Might be a dumb question:
How do you get some of the data for this? i.e. first base / birds eye, etc. It’s pretty amazing.
Good stuff as always.

Gameday
The raw XML files are here
http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/
I download them nightly, update my database and the rest is queries and excel. I also re-classify the pitches, Gameday’s are not suitable for most research purposes.
You can find instructions for downloading a pitcher’s game (brooksbaseball.net), crawling and loading a database (fastballs.wordpress.com) and graphing (beyondtheboxscore.com). YOu can also google Baseball on a Stick and just get your own ready to go database.
