With respect to our resident ballhawk

and all Wrigley ballhawk’s really, there are some real horrid human beings that have been catching home run balls this season. These ballhawks need to wise the heck up and stop being giant assholes.

Be happy you get a signed baseball.

Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

Just to clarify...

Nowhere have I read or seen the term “ballhawk” used in the reporting on Carson’s HR. Unlike that guy from Milwaukee who actively tries to catch homers and ‘ransoms’ the balls back to the players, it sounds like this misguided fool just happened to be a baseball fan in the right place at the right time.

“Duk” (the Big League Stew blogger) is Kevin Kaduk, who wrote a book (Wrigleyworld) about a season at Wrigley. He spent a lot of time with us ballhawks out on Waveland & Sheffield and he gets what we do and why. So I’m not surprised he made no reference to ballhawks while reporting on this.

The guy who caught Carson’s HR most likely just got caught up in the moment. For some people, that means giving the ball back, no questions asked, glad to do it. For others (like this guy), it means here’s a chance to cash in big time, “show me the money”! And for the rest of us, probably somewhere in between. Just depends on how we’re wired, I guess.

And that was a pretty good book too .. Racy and ribauld

but really fascinating to read .. Anytime I get transported to Waveland and Sheffield I grok it.

BTW, Balldude .. did you get the DVD? Never did hear whether you did

just opened it today though apparently it was delivered awhile ago

I’ll send you an email with details later but long story short… it would appear a well-intentioned person in my building picked up the package for me but apparently forgot to drop it by until today.

Oh well, good thing there was nothing perishable…

like the time I had a lobster fedexed to my building

and the package place held onto it one day too late… down the chute.

Oh, how I miss trash chutes.

i just hope your player reads the DVD ok

Well, here’s hoping they weren’t a Sox fan .. that’s my primary concern .. LOL.

Glad you got it.
