sadly I am
happy. this proves that he was not as bad as his line, but playing thru a bad knee. this shows that he put the team first, his own personal agenda second. glad he gets it done now, to allow him to get back to form sooner rather than later.
speedy recovery Soriano, we need you to return healthy

Ironic
By having Soriano getting surgery that’s giving up.
The one player who probably cost us more than anyone else by NOT going on the DL.
I swear, if he doesn’t have a monster 2010, I will never ever become a full Soriano supporter. This doesn’t mean I’m going to bash him anytime I can or only look at his negatives but I’ll never spend a dollar in merchandise that can go towards our left fielder.

So his knee is going to be scoped...but how about his head?
Of course, I wish him the best of health, and good luck in the future. He’s not the brightest ballplayer I’ve ever seen play baseball. Maybe the Cubs get trade him to the Orioles for a crab dinner.

C'mon, Dr. Zev

He's not faking it. But someone needs to tell him that he needs to get some baseball smarts.
I’ve had enough with his wild swings at bad pitches and his bunny hop in left field. Time for him to grow up.

The best thing he could have done
It makes no sense to keep hobbling out to LF if you are hurt.

4 months too late
The season could have been much different had he had this done in May.

Rami went down in early May
I don’t think Lou or Soriano were willing to keep Sori out of games with Rami’s bat absent. By the time Ramirez came back, Soriano was heating up, so it didn’t appear to be an issue. But then July ended, and so did all of Soriano’s production. With 20/20 hindsight, an MRI on Sori’s knee in the second week of August followed by a DL stint may have kept us in the race a lot longer than limping Soriano out there game after game after game after…

hope against hope
that Sori would pick it up. Statistics (ain’t they a monster) probably were the factor on Lou’s part to keep him starting and not Fox or Johnson.

On your first senteance ... I agree.
Soriano’s bat though was atrocious at that time. He shouldn’t have been in the lineup. He was unable to play at an average major league level much less the level one would expect from Soriano.
I’m not sure when you saw Soriano heat up other than right after the All Star break. He was hitting .284 on Apr 30 and he never got that high again for the rest of the season. He lost 40 pts off his average in May alone. The MRI should have been done when he was first injured. By August it was too late. Yes, they could have stayed in the race longer, but right now they are 12 games behind StL and 8 games behind in the WC. Having Soriano MRI’d and Dl’d in August would not have made that up.
He should have gone on the DL in May even if Ramirez was on the DL. It served no one by putting a player out there who could not play even at an average major league level much less the level Soriano can normally provide. Quite simply, he was unable to play.

My thinking is that he is as messed up as Hundley
Find a way to dump him….
