A great play provided to us by a great man
Well, this will probably be deleted but I just want to state my love for Andres Blanco. I love you and your amazing defensive plays. Keep up the good work!

Aaron Miles could have done that
But in all seriousness I was at the park and that might have been the best defensive play I’ve ever seen in person.
Ronny Cedeno did an amazing one in 2006 I saw but this might top it.

The title of this post is rather weird, though.
Theriot wouldn’t have made this play, obviously.

At .240
Blanco is a number one backup infielder. At 250-.260 he’s the starting shortstop. Move Theriot to 2b.

His BAbip
for the year is only .259. Even if he got it up to .280, which is low, he’d probably carry about a .260 BA. With his defense he’d be a definite starter at SS next year. And while he doesn’t draw walks, he also doesn’t K. If he can be more selective at the plate, his OBA would also rise.
If you like Selig's handling of the steroid issue, you'll love his choice for next Cub owner.

We all would.
I want Blanco to get more playing time this month and a real shot at starting in 2010.
