New SBN Homepage Layout
SBNation is a collection of 212 sports blogs across major sports like basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. So far it’s main site, SBNation.com, has been not much more than a glorified directory for all the blogs. But tonight it is changing to more of a true sports destination site in its own right with a small team of editors who cull the best stories from the 212 blogs, as well as articles, videos, and Tweets from elsewhere. Each different major sport will have its own aggregation page, and new items will stream in on a continual basis.

I suppose I'll have to get used to it...
…but my first impression was “yuck”.

Can you explain why?
I’m going to post about this on the front page, you can move the discussion there.

it might be mostly about familiarity....
but I liked the old set up for it’s ease of finding things. The “recent articles” that you could click to different sports is now buried on the bottom. Having the “list” of blogs split up by teams and sports in the main body was also easier to look up particular teams. (Granted, I don’t search a lot….the occasional Cubs or Purdue opponents, or if there’s a developing story in the world of sports, like the Shawne Merriman choking).
Now it’s just kind of all over the place, and really crowded on the main page. I guess the “crowdedness” is what bothers me the most. It’s not an easy page to look at.

You can always send comments in.
There’s a “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the page. Send suggestions in. They WILL read them.

Yeah, let me explore it a bit more...
One question: Are you considered an “editor”? (Are the blog owners considered editors?) Because it seems like they are now featuring that particular part of SBNation a lot more than the blogs themselves. Which I think defeats the whole purpose.

I'll be doing some work for the new page, yes.
It’s not supposed to take the place of the blogs; it’s supposed to provide links to relevant news stories and then, hopefully, people continue the discussion at the team blogs.
