Cubs Spring Training Reporting Dates Announced
It's cold and wintry in the Midwest, but today, MLB announced reporting dates for spring training for all teams.
For the Cubs, the pitchers and catchers' first workout will be on Thursday, February 18 and the first full-squad workout will be on Tuesday, February 23.
Doesn't seem so far away now, does it? That's only five weeks from this Thursday. Baseball is just around the corner!

where's the cable guy when you need him, right? ;-)
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
I know!
But then I’m moving again in April so we’ll be able to pick up right where we left off. You know, “same time, next year.”

If it's any consolation
I did see where Tampa’s low was actually one degree colder than Juneau’s the other day! (Not sure whereabouts you are located in AK).

to bitch in winter, regardless where they live :-)

Hate to rub it in
today was sunny and high of 76 degrees here today in Arizona ..
Grrrrr....
… but, then, I’ll be there in two months.

Yes, but if you leave any meat outside in Arizona, it will spoil.
In Illinois, it will remain frozen, and perfectly fine to eat. So, you know…in your FACE!

That is so cool. I would love to be there, love the cold.
About 88 degrees in Brisbane today, was well above 100 in Melbourne last week.

I'd take that any time.
I’ll send you some of the cold in Chicago in exchange for some of that!

Wow. And here to think I impressed my kids by blowing soap bubbles outside through the patio door when it was only -5.
The bubbles freeze instantly and jut fall to the ground intact. And stay that way. They don’t pop.

I just froze solid.
That’s colder than anything I’ve ever experienced.

COME FASTER!
Twss?
Can’t wait. Hopefully the convention will ease my anxiety for baseball :)

No doubt,
I need the Hornsby quote back in its rightful spot in the top-right to get me through this last stretch.
You know, I stopped doing that a while ago.
But here:

I can wait, especially since football is still going on
but whatever will I do without the pro bowl two weeks later!!

printable schedule
Does anybody know where to find a 2010 regular season schedule that is suitable for printing? In the past it was posted on cubs.com, but it is not there this year. Thanks in advance
Like yourself I print myself a copy too
Last year it appeared in the middle of spring training in early March I believe.
Patience.
OK. Here are a few ST 2009 pictures to warm everyone up...
Sunrise in Mesa & Some jerk standing in front of the ballpark sign. He wouldn’t move…

Your starting line-up & The ballpark begins to fill up…

First things first: grab a cold one & Say “Hi” to Fergie Jenkins…

Biz Z warms up & Fonzie leads off…uh, maybe not…

A preview of things to come & “Where are you sitting?”

“LEFT FIELD SUCKS!” vs. “RIGHT FIELD SUCKS!”

A call to the pen & At the rail…

And lastly, two looks at a guy you WON’T be seeing in Cubs uniform this Spring…yep, him.

Did you happen to notice...

Hence my "A Preview of Things to Come" photo header!
Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...
Now, when that name appears in 2010...
… it will have a Cubs logo behind it.
FWIW, Byrd, as you see in the photo, wore #22 for the Rangers. My guess is that he’ll take that number back and Tom Gorzelanny, who wore #22 last year, will switch to the #24 he wore with the Pirates (a number now available).
Geez, you’d think I co-authored a book about uniform numbers or something.

I did a double take when I was looking through the pictures to figure out which to post.

Cool pics!
My only question is, “Who is Font and what did he do with the rest of LBR’s last name?”

I think the clubhouse guy was trying out a jersey with a new-look name font...

That’s Franklin Font — he’s one of the minor league instructors.

I have a feeling when the Cubs play the Mariners Bradley will not be there for one reason or another.
First chance for him to miss a Cubs/Mariners game...
… will be on March 28 in Peoria, Arizona.

Hurry up hurry up hurry up hurry up
I was sitting on my couch last weekend watching god knows what, when I stopped, turned to the lovely lady on my left and said “I can’t wait for baseball to start again.”
It must be January :)

Oh, OK. Here are a few more...
A look at the HoHoKam ballpark and did you know you can park right next to the entrance? Yep. Really.

Of course the park is across the street from a cemetery, but other than that, there’s a party deck…

And some more...
There’s an organ…and lots of friends…

And some baseball now and then…(hey that rhymes, kinda…)
The bullpens are a double wide…

And a parting shot:
Yes, they do the sausage race at the Brewers park in Maryvale. You wanted to know, right?

Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...
I ::::LOVE:::: the sausage race
The Brewers? Not so much.

The sausage race is the upside to going to Miller Park...
well, that and the cinnamon roasted almonds (yeah, I know they aren’t traditional baseball park fare but they’re tasty). Of course, when the Cubs beat the Brewers there that’s good too.
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"--The Brain
I must say, there are tons of rotten seats at Miller Park
but if you have good seats the other pluses include way better overall food with way shorter lines than Wrigley, clean troughless bathrooms with short lines and a bar in left field that was playing Miles Davis when I was there. Not exactly what you expect to hear in cheddar-land.
I actually like Miller Park a lot
In spite of the fact that I feel like a mole in enemy territory.

I particularly like Miller park in April.

The best thing about Spring Training is getting a sneak peak at summer.
Even if it’s only on TV, it helps me get through the end our long midwest winters.
Hey, it's a new century!
Any idea on when they'll announce promotion dates?
I like to plan my summer trip over there around a bobble head game or some other cool promo

I wish I could go to that.
I went to the one in 2006 and I had a blast.
