2010 Cubs Promotional Schedule
I will get a more complete post about the convention's second day up shortly. I have had a number of requests for the 2010 promotional schedule.
Here's what I have -- this is from the pocket schedule passed out at the convention. It doesn't appear to be complete -- I suspect some more dates will be added later. Follow me past the jump for the promo schedule.
As noted above, this is probably not a complete list; they'll almost certainly add to it later (maybe with scratchoff cards for better items like bobbleheads). If it says "adults" below, that means 21 or over, which means it's a beer company sponsor.
Mon 4/12 (Brewers) -- magnet schedule (1st 30,000 adults) Wed 4/14 (Brewers) -- magnet schedule (1st 30,000 adults) Fri 4/16 (Astros) -- Cubs cup/tumbler (1st 10,000 adults) Sat 4/17 (Astros) -- Cubs knit cap (1st 10,000 adults) Sun 4/18 (Astros) -- Cubs winter scarf (1st 10,000 fans) Thu 4/29 (D'backs) -- Cubs drawstring bag (1st 10,000 fans) Sat 5/15 (Pirates) -- Build-a-bear (1st 5,000 kids) Sun 5/16 (Pirates) -- Cubs camouflage cap (1st 10,000 adults) Wed 5/26 (Dodgers) -- Cubs water bottle (1st 10,000 fans) Fri 5/28 (Cardinals) -- Cubs washed cap (1st 10,000 adults) Sat 6/12 (White Sox) -- Commemorative lapel pin (1st 10,000 fans) Wed 6/16 (Athletics) -- Cubs tote bag (1st 10,000 fans) Fri 7/2 (Reds) -- American Girl doll apparel (1st 4,000 kids 14 & under) Sun 7/4 (Reds) -- Cubs 4th of July cap (1st 10,000 fans) Mon 7/19 (Astros) -- Cubs mouse pad (1st 10,000 fans) Tue 7/20 (Astros) -- Cubs rally towel (1st 10,000 fans) Wed 7/21 (Astros) -- Cubs white T-shirt (1st 10,000 adults) Sat 7/24 (Cardinals) -- Cubs car flag (1st 10,000 fans) Wed 8/4 (Brewers) -- Cubs can cooler (1st 10,000 adults) Fri 8/6 (Reds) -- Cubs three ring binder (1st 10,000 fans) Tue 8/31 (Pirates) -- Cubs home cap (1st 10,000 fans) Tue 9/7 (Astros) -- Cubs toiletry bag (1st 10,000 fans) Tue 9/21 (Giants) -- Cubs pink cap (1st 10,000 fans) Wed 9/22 (Giants) -- Cubs key chain (1st 10,000 fans) Fri 9/24 (Cardinals) -- Cubs bottle opener (1st 10,000 adults)

I'm guessing that's the back to school
promo they offer every year.
Hey, it's a new century!

Except usually those are for kids only.
This one isn’t.

It's funny that the just for kids promo stuff
are the giveaways that I’d really like to have!
I’d love to have one of the bears or dolls they give out every year. And every girl could use a Cubs lunchbox!
Heck, I bet the little boy in all you gents would like a batting helmet!

Maybe they'll have that when the Cubs go to Seattle.

Hmm. Wonder how far you can THROW a bobblehead... ;)
Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...
I'd be really disappointed if you need a scratch-off for a bobblehead
In 2009 they had (I believe) 4 BBH games – first 10,000 fans, I think. Scratch-offs if they have ’em should be for expensive things like hand-autographed balls, replica jerseys, etc.
Also, in the past the American Girl prize was for the first X,000 girls, not “kids”. When my younger daughter as 12 and 13 she made out like a bandit – she’d get the American Girl swag (she has the dolls) but she looked older and would also get the “14 and up” prizes like Precious Moments figurines. At 13 we brought her passport along to American Girl day, to have proof of age, because we knew the ushers would not believe she was only 13.
I always felt bad
when I was littler because I could still get the kids-only promos when I was 14 and 15.

at first i read that as a scratch and sniff bobble head

That could be nasty depending on where you have to scratch...

I really hope this is incomplete
Because the promo schedule seems very week compared to the last few years, when we’ve had bobbleheads, HOF plaques, no-hitter statues, etc. I really enjoy the cool collectible items, but there’s not much in this schedule to be excited about.

Stuff
Was this taken off of the pocket schedules handed out this weekend? If so that is probably all of the promos.
Yes, that's where I got it.
Where do you get the idea that this is it? The Cubs have often added promos after the convention pocket schedules were handed out.

OK
I thought those were set in stone as the only dates. I would hope they would add more since that isn’t close to what they normally have.
I don't know what you guys are all complaining about...
I’m absolutely GEEKED for the Cubs rally towel!!!

what's a 4th of July cap?

Probably one with a stars-and-stripes motif in the "C".
They’ve done this before.

oh that sounds cool....I'd like one of those

Ahhh. A preview of the $30 Grab Bags for the 2011 Cubs Convention...
Get ’em while you can!
Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...
I had considered buying the Grab Bag
on Friday but decided to wait around and see what other kind of merchandise was available before I spent $30 right off the bat. Turns out they lowered the price of them to $20 on Saturday. They were supposed to have autograph stuff in them, which maybe they took out when they lowered the price because I didn’t get any. But I did get a Fergie/Maddux commemorative #31 retirement poster, which made the bag worth it.

some had autographed stuff
but nobody in my group got an autograph worth getting excited about. I just kept reminding myself that the money was going to a good cause, because my bag was pretty bad.

Those things used to cost $10.
At $20 they’re a decent deal IF you get an autograph.
At $30 they’re a ripoff. Yes, the $ goes to a good cause.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Agreed. I was OK with $20 because at least you'd get an autographed baseball or photo.
This year’s bags were, I’m sorry, mostly junk.
There was the occasional Dora Beanie Baby for Mrs. Zeke, but come on; a CBOE cap? Please.
Not worth the $ any longer folks. Resist the urge,

70s / Disco night?
Usually its a Monday or Tuesday night game in August but does anyone know when it is this year?
I'M SO EXCITED that
the MACHO MAN Cubs will catch a little NIGHT FEVER in FUNKY TOWN and turn Wrigley Field into a DISCO INFERNO CELEBRATION. But don’t worry: I WILL SURVIVE, so save the LAST DANCE for me and we’ll GET DOWN TONIGHT.
I’m off to BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE.
(I mean really, with titles like these, it it any wonder Steve Dahl blew up disco records at a Sox-Tigers DH in the 1970s?)
