Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

The article says he is NOT negotiating with the Cardinals, but does not name the teams. Could one of them be the Cubs?

I'd give him a ST invite

But that’s about it. Love what he did in 08 and wanted him back in 09 but being away from the game for a year might have made him rusty. More than happy to give him a flyer though

I don't know why the Cubs would want him

He helped a lot in 2008, but they have a much cheaper option in Fuld to play the role that Edmonds would on the 2010 team.

He MIGHT have some pop

Something Fuld clearly lacks

I have a 2 liter of 7UP at my desk . . .

Seriously, though – I’m not sure that the extra $ would be worth the incremental power for a fifth outfielder.

do people look at you funny???

thats a lot of pop to be at a desk….do you put it in a cup or drink from the bottle?

I have a few cans of pop in my backpack

Not a 2 liter but close. Not a coffee drinker and I need something to get through the day

And I just like the taste

I'd be for it...

would be nice to have someone who is clutch on the bench.

I heart the riot. (www.riotshirts.com)

No problems

if he signs here. He could add some pop against righthanders.

by Grockcubs on Jan 26, 2010 11:06 AM CST reply actions

He has value, but at what price

If we can sign him to a league minimum type of deal, then he may be worth looking into. He can pinch strike out with the best of them though.

I'd welcome Jim back.

Fuld has youth on his side, but to me Edmonds has a little more value. He provides a great backup glove to Byrd in center and has pop left in the bat that would come in fine off the bench and in spot starts.

His 2008 numbers with the Cubs were good, but I think he’s wise enough, with his absense in 2009, to not raise the price tag too high. Bringing Edmonds back would be a very good move for the Cubs.

I guess the Nady signing...

… crosses Edmonds off the Cubs list.

Yep

I wonder who will try the Edmonds experiment.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Sounded like the Yankees were interested.

Edmonds’ swing might be real good for that ballpark.

Yankees are focused on finding a right-handed outfielder

Hence why they still are linked to Reed Johnson to be 5th outfielder. They also may still bring back lefty Johnny Damon, which would move Brett Gardner to the bench and further press the need for a righty bat to play the outfield. Yankees recognize that Curtis Granderson needs a semi-platoon mate in center.

Which is why part of me is glad

We didn’t get him (granderson)
