Official announcement made Wednesday in Phoenix -- the Cubs will stay in Mesa for spring training. Among those in attendance were Laura and Tom Ricketts, Crane Kenney and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. (Photo via cubswininaz.com)

It would have been easier for me to make spring training games in Florida
I wouldn’t have been able to make trips, so it doesn’t bother me either way.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Can we save the Banner for our next D'backs series in AZ?
I am sure Jazzman would be happy to hold it up.

That name's funny!
Since the Cubs don’t win in the regular season in Arizona!

It was on so late, I barely say much of those games.
So I choose to forget it ever happened.

Great news about staying in Mesa.
Off the subject here, but why is Crane Kenney still employed by the Cubs? I mean, what exactly is his role? I thought he was a Tribune Co. attorney who fell into the Cubs President job when John McDonnough left. Now that the new owners are in place to handle the business side of things, and Hendry & Co. take care of the baseball operations side, what exactly is Kenney’s role? I kind of thought he was the “unofficial steward” until the ownership transition took place, and once that happened, he would go back to being a suit in the Tribune Tower. Then again, I think Ed Lynch is still on the Cubs payroll in some scouting capacity, and so was Larry Himes until a few years ago, so I guess this should not surprise me.

He's team president.
I assume he’ll be focused on new business opportunities, such as the Triangle Building.
Lynch and Himes are gone now.

Somewhere Jack is still
not believing this.
Great news for the Cubs.

fat lady has sung...
AZ still has some minor gov hurdles but the vote of the Ricketts was all that really mattered. He stated at the press conference AZ was always their preference (not sure how wise that was but then again a vote has to still happen so…) I believed in the longshot (we are all Cubs fans right?) and maybe all of this was more than a ploy to only get the best deal for the Cubs. Bravo our new Cubbie ownership playing two cities/states against each other. I look foward to seeing the new ballpark.
For the overall health of MLB ST, some teams will have to start moving back to FL. Competition between the two states/ST sites is healthy, even if they cannot afford it who cares. If you read the latest rumors, Naples might take a shot at the Brewers next year, although for sure they will not need 15,000 seats maybe more like 5 or 6,000.
Why is "competition" between states in ST healthy?
That’s a serious question.
BTW, I have heard the Brewers have made overtures toward Naples and the Naples people weren’t interested.

Sports NIte on CSN Dave Kaplan is doing a piece on Dempster and how he trains. Kaplan is going to try and see if he can keep up with Demp.

Hey guys
Does anyone know when White Sox homegame tickets go on sale? I’m trying to get some tickets to the Cubs-Sox series in June. Meh, it’s frustrating that they can’t post these dates sooner..
Start Sean Marshall!!
Check the Sox website.
That would be the way to do it. IIRC, usually they don’t sell Cubs/Sox tickets on an individual game basis.

Did they have to say "Cubbies"?
I hate the term “Cubbies”.

Thought the same thing. I groan when anyone over 10 calls them Cubbies.
Can’t imagine Tinkers, Evers or Chance putting up with a name like that. Didn’t want to be the first to say it though seeing this site is called Bleedcubbieblue.

Al had no choice in the name, IIRC

Not to be mean but
one of my pet peeves is when people call Joe Tinker… Tinkers. Probably just a typo though.
Sorry, just had the line from the poem in my head.
It was wrong.

Oh and I understand how you feel.
I’m like that when people say Roger instead of Rogers Hornsby.

Really? I don't see the resemblance... ;)

Now only 12,859 on the "Cubs Season Tickets Waiting List"...
Only 2 potential hurdles remain
The Cubs will be allowed to back out of the deal if legislation isn’t enacted by July 12 or if Mesa voters reject it in a November election.

Just win the next game...!
Never underestimate the collective paranoia of the voters...

I'll let azjazzman chime in, because he lives in Mesa...
… but since the deal is designed NOT to specifically tax Mesa residents, I can’t imagine they won’t approve it.

True. It certainly would seem to be in their best interests.
But sometimes the outcomes from the voting booth can be surprising. Just ask Massachusetts.

Totally different type of vote.
And now, let’s stop talking politics.
