OT: Offseason Friday Fun - Lyrics Contest

On a busy offseason day where the expected big news is whether Xavier Nady passes his physical (great if he does and I guess great if he doesn't as I'd rather find out now), I propose a lyrics contest.

Rules are simple:

  • To start a song, start a thread with a lyric or verse.
  • Next person posts a lyric or verse to the same song.
  • Same poster cannot post lyrics twice to the same song
  • Nobody can identify the song.
  • Last person to post a non-repeated lyric or verse (any part) wins that song.
  • Grand prize can be an attaboy for a job well done headed into another beastly cold Chicago weekend.

Comments, sarcasm and snark are welcome, anywhere, only lyrics count against.    I'll start with a few.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

At least that much.

I think they repeated it 17 times.

And if you listen to it very closely just before they go into that, when they say “Remember to let her under your skin, then you begin …”

That’s about 2:50 into the song. When they are saying “Then you begin,” John Lennon says in the background “F***ing Hell!”

No joke. Listen carefully, and you will hear it.

I always thought it was "way beyond her years".

Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

My apologies to anyone who wanted this beast tallied.

I have repeatedly tried to print this thing so I can tally final verse and strike out double posts (Al) or song title reveals (daver).

The only way I can make it sized to print eliminates the nesting, making it impossible to tell one song from another.

I guess this ends with a whimper as a modern Little League experience where all who participate are given larger trophies than the league champions.
