BCB Awards

Ok, I been thinking and I believe we need to do this.  Lets have some fun while waiting for the next move by Hendry or for ST to start.  Below I will list some catagories, you email me (timothy.coyle76 at gmail dot com) who you believe should win each.  I will then tally the votes and I will post a future post with the top 5 nominees for each catagory, from which we can then award our BCB Awards

Star-divide

And now the ballot:

Thread derailer/hijacker – most likely to go off subject:

Wordmeister – most eloquent:

Class clown – most likely to crack wise:

WTF? Award – least likely to be fully understood:

Hot head - most likely to go boom:

Wit – always quick with a punch line:

Most informative:

Mr. (Ms.) Happypants – always has something nice to say:

Mr. (Ms.) Grumpypants always a curmudgeon:

Best BCB thread fight (nominate a thread):

Most snarkiest:

Favorite SBNation blog (not including BCB):

Added

ERICHANNAAWARD (the most sensible poster when it comes to trade ides, ERICHANNA is not eligible)

GETITDONEJIM favorite trade or signing during 2009

Legendary Thread – (Obviously) Awarded to the Most Epic Thread of the year

FYI THESE ARE FOR 2009.  NOMINATING 2010 IS A LITTLE EARLY

anyone and everyone can be nominated

so yes, you can nominate yourself.

I would say no more than 3 nominees per topic from each poster, so i can make a spreadsheet, and then i can post the finals (top nominees for each topic) which will then be voted again.

and these are based on 2009, and for 2010 we can have another one, maybe include some new catagories, etc. I am open to suggestions

You need to say not only who routinely posts the celebration, but also what celebration it is.

Tim: Now remember, in order to NOT hurt someone's feelings...

…you should adopt the announcement style of the Oscars, Emmys, etc.

Instead of saying: “And the WINNER is:”, you instead say: “And the BCB award GOES TO:”…

And for those of us who DON’T win, there are two things to remember:

1. SMILE. The cameras will be on you for your reaction to the announcement and you don’t want to have a “WTF?” look on your face and

2. It’s an HONOR simply to be NOMINATED. Don’t worry about that “bridesmaid” feel. It’ll pass…eventually…years later…amid a wash of pills and booze and rehab(s)… (hey, this sounds like “The MacKenzie Phillips Story”, coming this Spring to the Lifetime Channel)

Best of luck everyone!

Well, fun isn't the word I use when I watch Wisconsin basketball.

Sometimes it’s painful to watch. Like “fingernails on a chalkboard” annoying.

That being said, UW simply MUST win the game to have any realistic shot at the BT title. They need it much worse than the Spartans. They’ve had a long layoff to prepare for MSU, so I think the Badgers will win.

But you never know. If MSU somehow wins in Madison, they “could” run the table. A win there would be THAT big for MSU.

I don't see Bucky catching Sparty

If they’d pulled it out against Purdue, maybe – but 3 games is a lot to make up.

by Shanghai Badger on Feb 1, 2010 7:50 PM CST up reply actions

True, but stranger things have happened in the BT, so you never know.

In 1979, OSU stood at 8-0 and MSU was 4-4 in the BT. We won it with a 13-5 mark. Of course, having Earvin Johnson and Greg Kelser helped.

Izzo still thinks a 4 loss team could win the BT.

And we have to play at UW tonight, at Illinois, and PU twice. And after the IU nearly stole one at UI the other night, going to play IU in Bloomington isn’t a sure thing.

I spoke with a couple of Purdue fans at the Cubs Convention right after NU upset PU, giving PU their 3rd loss. The dad and his son were certain that PU’s chance at the title was gone. I told them about 1979, and they perked up a bit.

So until we’re 1 game up with none to play, I’m not comfortable…

Sure - never assume

But UW would really have to have a lot go their way – especially with Leuer still out.

A win at Purdue and Michigan hanging on last week against MSU would have made me pretty optimistic, but . . .

Most of the heavy lifting part of the schedule for UW is done though, right?

If they win tonight, then having the Spartans lose another couple of games over the next 8 isn’t all that far-fetched. 15-3 or 14-4 could win at least a share.

So tonight IS big for UW. They definitely have more at stake.

May the flopping begin!

An interesting thought about how far UW has come – beating a 9-0 Big Ten team, #5 in the country – and the court wasn’t stormed.

Looks like Lucas has only a high ankle sprain. No break or fracture.

So I’m betting he doesn’t play at UI and may see some limited time off the bench vs. PU back at Breslin. He’ll have to slowly work his way back in. Maybe it’ll be good for us in the long run. The same thing happened in 2000 with Mateen Cleaves going down for two months with an injury. The team learned it was pretty good even when he wasn’t able to play. That confidence paid off later and resulted in a National Championship. Sometimes those things that seem tragic in the short run work out in the long run.
