12% amusement tax?
is that like when they play laughably bad?
Ticket Master will add a "convenience fee" to that

Yea tickets.com screws you with a $4.90 per ticket fee which really sucks too.
Counting the days until 4/1/11...
worse than that
you cannot pick the row or section, just the price range without speaking to a live operator for another $5. I just dealt with that for tomorrow nights AHL Home opener for the Texas Stars, thankfully I emailed the director of ticket sales for the Stars and he contacted me direct to sell me a ticket to sit near some season ticket holder friends of mine without the additional $12 worth of charges when it was all said and done with Ticketmaster 8(ticket was $20 before their fees and crap). The mafia is easier to deal with than Ticketmaster, its horrible.
here is my email to them, which they answered
I wanted to go to opening night and watch the Stars raise the banner, planned to sit next to a friend who is a season ticket holder (he sits 105-N-18).
When dealing with Ticketmaster, in order to sit near him, I have to speak to a live agent; their site does not allow choosing of a section, row, or seat. The seat next to Ron is available (105-N-17), but I refuse to purchase it now through Ticketmaster due to the additional fees thru them. $20 for ticket + $4.61 convenience fee + $4 for the convenience to purchase from a live agent + tax is absurd. Unfortunately, I see no reason to go to a game with these types of "conveniences" being charged and no alternate way to purchase.
I would love to be there, but refuse to pay that much of a mark up for a game in these economic times.

Tax
Actually, the 2010 season tix also had the 12% tax billed separately, That was the first time I’d seen it done that way (season ticket holder since 1988). Interestingly, the 2010 Bronze price was $1 less than the face value of 2009; with the tax, it was 20¢ more. So maybe the Trib had been including the tax in the face value?
Right
Previously, the Cubs included the tax in the face value of the ticket price. I’m not sure if it was the Ricketts or if they had already planned to split out the tax. I think one of the drivers to split it out was the increase in the tax itself – spread the blame.

Spread the blame?
Maybe, but all it does is piss people off who think they’re getting a price decrease (because the price tables only show the base price), then sticker shock when they see the total.

Hmmm
Wonder when I’m getting this email. Last year was my first year of season tickets. So far, not happy. The food at the park was better.
The best part is I'm on the aisle where the break is for OF boxes and INF boxes.
So the guy right across the aisle from me pays about $900 more per seat.
Seating breakdown??
Al, or anyone. Does anyone have a breakdown of available seats in each pricing level in the ballpark? I’d like to play with the numbers in a spreadsheet and see what each level of seating potentially brings in revenue.
Actually, I don't.
But if you take a seating chart and look at how many sections are in each level and how many rows in each section, you can make a rough estimate.
Start here: there are 5,100 bleacher seats.

Old Seating Chart
Al, I used to have a copy of an old seating chart in black and white that showed rows and their numbers I think – -that might be the best chart I’ve ever seen. Can’t seem to find it. Anyone have a copy of that or have any links to it online. There is a poster size one outside a ticket broker near the ballpark I think.
Thanks for the start with the bleacher numbers. 41,160 – 5100 = 36,060 left to allocate.
But better yet, I’ve googled while typing this post and found what I was looking for — at a competing blog — oops. I won’t post the link unless it’s ok with you.
It's Not Until August But...
any guesses on whether the Braves midweek series will be in the platinum, gold, or silver category?

Check the other post...
… which has the schedule breakdown of games. That’s for bleachers, but the other one (for other seating) is in the comments.

Thanks
I see for the bleachers the first three games are in the bronze category with the fourth one in the gold category.

They seem to have done a lot of that..
… early and late in the year, when night games don’t draw as well as day games.
