This is why baseball is such a great game.
World Series Game One matched up two of the best pitchers in the game, including one who had been lights-out in almost all of his postseason appearances in his career for three different teams -- and the final score is 11-7. The Giants had scored that many runs three times the entire regular season and only once since July; the Rangers allowed that many runs three times the entire regular season and only once since May. The Giants scored 11 runs -- total -- in their four-game division series over the Braves. The Giants scored only 12 more runs than the Cubs this season.
And yet, there it is. Tonight, C.J. Wilson matches up against Matt Cain. Wilson and Cain are good pitchers, but they don't have the reputation of Lee and Lincecum.
We'll probably get a 1-0 game tonight... weather permitting.
7 pm CDT, Fox: Rangers at Giants. Giants lead series 1-0. Announcers: Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
