World Series and Missing Out

I can't help but get a pain in my stomach every time I see Mike Fontenot come to bat or make a play in the infield.  Just knowing that the Cubs gave him away only a few months ago for nothing, is an absolute thorn in my side.  I am very happy for him and what he has accomplished since his battle with third base, but I can't help but wonder what could have been.  The solid left handed bat in the middle of the lineup.  Great speed and arm in the middle infield.  Inspirational story and leader in the clubhouse.  With all of the misses the Cubs have had over the years, this one has to be near the top of my list.  Yes, both Sori and Zambrano have contracts today that are unbearable, but at least we got a couple good years out of them.  We never even gave Fontenot a chance.

parody on the previous post.

Best part is mention of the “speed”.

Just win the next game...!

LOL

If only the Cubs had given Fontenot an everyday starting position, the Cubs would be world champions now. It all makes sense to me now! Yeah, that’s the ticket!

This is what happens when you send Ryan Theriot to the Dodgers

You send Mike Fontenot to the Giants and the Giants win the World Series. I knew there was a reason we should have kept them.

Good thing we got rid of Harden

Or we would have lost the World Series.

If DeRosa Had Played in the NLDS...

the Giants would have gotten swept by the Braves. It was all DeRosa’s fault that the Cubs got swept in 2007 and 2008 and that the Cardinals got swept in 2009.

DeRosa is AMAZING!!!

He helped his team win by NOT playing!

MLB World Series and College World Series

Now, Fontenot has been with a CWS champion with LSU in 2000 and an MLB WS champion with the Giants in 2010.

Roger Clemens, Sal Bando, Reggie Jackson, Rick Monday

Clemens was with the 1983 Texas Longhorns and the 1999 and 2000 New York Yankees.

Bando, Monday, and Jackson were all with the 1965 champion Arizona State Sun Devils. Bando was with the 1972-1974 A’s; Jackson was with the 1972-74 A’s (though injured for the ’72 WS) and the 1977-78 Yankees. Monday was with the 1981 Dodgers.

I’m sure there are others.

You can set your watch to it.

If any thread that criticizes Hendry or the Cubs gets any kind of discussion going whatsoever, there’s going to be a “parody” Fanpost a few hours later, using 90% of the same words but changing 10% to “hilarious” effect.

if that were the case, there would be a lot more parodies weekly.

If they hadn’t kept Andres Blanco on the bench.

The worst part about giving up on Fontenot...

Is that it is really like finally giving up on Sosa.
