Damn it...
…looks like we got NO choice but to sign Dunn now.

You're Right
The I-Cubs lost out on a tiebreaker with Memphis for the division title last season. In 2011, not having Hoffpauir is going to really hurt Iowa’s chances.

He'll Be In a Real Pacific Coast League Now
Well, every team in Japan is closer to the Pacific Ocean than Des Moines is.

Sounds like a good fit for him
Hope he has a lot of success there!
Yeah, I know there should be an apostrophe in "Vails," but punctuation wasn't an option when I signed up.

Tuffy Rhodes, Matt Murton...
why not Micah? He could hit a lot of jacks there. Overall the pitching must be sub-par compared to MLB, based solely on Rhodes & Murton’s success.

Chad Tracy too.

i think it has less to do with pitching
and more to do with shorter distance on average to the wall from home plate, and the average wall is a foot or two shorter in height

So Al, does this mean you're going to be throwing a going away party for Micah?
You have been waiting for this day for awhile now.

If he wanted a ride to the airport, I'd give it to him.
But he hasn’t asked.

Did he do something to you personally?
You seemed to have a specific beef with the guy and I can’t remember him doing anything bad…well besides his play.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Not at all.
I just think he’ll be more successful in Japan than here.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Right.
I think there are a lot of guys that would probably be better off in Japan. I just didn’t know if there was a specific reason why you always seemed to focus on Hoff. N/t.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
I never had anything against him.
I just thought he wasn’t a very good major league player.

Hoff took a lot of guff...
…because many Cubs fans way overrated his potential impact at the major league level.

He had me going at one point.
I was convinced he’d be a nice left handed bat off the bench.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Yeah, I think I was OK with him in that role...
…for a season or so, too. Like so many left-handed power hitters, he has a nice-looking swing.

It's an uppercut swing, though...
… and that’s why all the strikeouts. However, in the smaller Japanese parks, that might do him real well.

i think Micah should work it out fo you can throw out the first pitch in his first game there

I think I've been saying that longer than you have, Al
And I think Micah should thrive in Japan, assuming he overcomes the cultural gap. Matt Murton certainly did.
BUT NOW WHO WILL BE ARE FIRST BASE MAN IN 2011-4EVARS?!
Best of luck, say hi to Matt Murton for me

they’re not the same guy?
Been a rough year for Clutche. No Fox, no Theriot, no Hoffpauir…
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

way to go Al. you nailed it.
it was obvious that Hoff wasnt in the Cubs plans when they played Nady at 1B almost every day after the D-Lee trade, instead of Hoffpaur. You dont play an impending free agent-unless you have nobody else, and that is clearly how Hoff was viewed
Why would anybody want to fight ham? It's delicious!
Yes, I know it’s the Nippon Ham fighters rather than the Nippon Ham Fighters. It’s just an awesome name.
Should read
Yes, I know it’s the Nippon Ham Fighters rather than the Nippon Ham Fighters. It’s just an awesome name.
Or you can think of them as Hams that fight
That name puzzled me for a long time, too, until I found out that Nippon Ham is a company.

I always assumed it was a weird translation
that came out funny in English until I began planning a trip to Japan and researched some of the teams. Maybe I can see Hoff when I go there.

Too bad this event wasn't listed in Ballhawk's contest...
…I would have given it a “15” for sure. Otherwise, it certainly has been tough to predict events so far this off-season. Imagine if Hawk’s list had included an entry for Ricketts asking the state to float $300MM in bonds for Wrigley improvements, I think a lot of us would have given that a “1”, once we stopped laughing at the thought.

Good for him!
He should do well over there, and he can make better money. There have been plenty of 4A types who have had excellent NPB careers.

I had no idea the Cubs stood to make serious money on this.

"Serious" money?
If it’s “several hundred thousand dollars”, as noted, it might pay for James Russell next year.

Up to $500,000?
even for the Cubs that is very real money. Indeed it will pay for any league minimum player. Bet they make more money on Hoff than they they will on the Holiday 4 packs.

Good for him.
I wish him the best.
A lovely story:
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who didn't whine, nag or bitch. That would be me....
But that was a long time ago and it was just that one day.
The end
does this mean Dragon can update us on Hoff this coming season?
