Tickets for Cubs @ Fenway Green Monster Seats Available

We all know that the Cubs are playing the Red Sox in Fenway for the first time in a long time the weekend of May 20-22, 2011.  The Red Sox for a fundraiser are making Green Monster seats on Saturday May 21 available NOW.  The tickets are not that bad (considering).  I purchased 3 tickets for $800.  Normally seats on the Monster sell for hundreds and thousands against the Yankees.

For those you you who have not been to Fenway, it is a wonderful old park, like Wrigley.  I have been on the Green Monster and you are on top of the Left Fielder.  They advertise these seats as the best in baseball and they are.

Lets get all Cub fans to buy the tickets.

Hmm I've very tempted.

If you sit on top of the monster, can you walk around the rest of the stadium?

OT, I’ve always wondered if the Cubs would ever put seats on top of the scoreboard.

Don’t give ’em any ideas.

LOL

Not necessarily. It’s an interesting idea, though I don’t know how you’d get people up there.

I suppose.

But they put a whole new structure up there, behind what was originally just a wall. They can’t really do that on the Wrigley scoreboard. There would probably only be room for maybe 20 or 30 seats.

Hey the Ricketts are always looking for new revenue.

Those could be a sort of luxury suite of sorts.

It’ll probably never happen, but I think it’d be a cool place to watch a game.

It definitely would.

Why on top of the scoreboard?

The money would be to let people buy seats INSIDE the scoreboard.

Who cares about the Blue Jays – A’s score, anyway?

LOL

Now THAT would be cool.

Yes

Yes you can. You can walk all around the stadium and there is one staricase up to the Green Monster seats with a security guard at the bottom.
The event starts 3 hours before the game so you can see batting practice and walk around.

would love to go back, even if it’s not the Cubs in town.

$267 a seat?

lol, no thanks. I’ll take my chances with their ticket lottery.

Didn't know that.

Still way too much for me. I’d love to make the trip, but only if I can get regular seats at face value.

Yeah.

This offer was tempting, but I’m looking for something a little less expensive.

I'll take my chances with the TV at Murphy's Bleachers.

I’d love to go to Fenway, but not at that price. I’ll try to get in sometime with the Royals in town. Love your signature, by the way. God, I miss George Carlin.

So the Red Sox

are rumored to be hot after Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Upton, etc. They are releasing a ticket package to the game of the year that benefits charity and people are falling over themselves to buy up tickets. Their stadium is already renovated. their team is always a contender.

We get an offer to buy overpriced tickets to games nobody wants to attend, an owner who is doing some tax shell game to have the city buy him a bunch of restauraunts, and a GM who seems to be content to add Aubrey Huff after a 5th place finish.

Life is so unfair sometimes.

Their stadium is already renovated. their team is always a contender.

Here’s the key. The Red Sox have had a decade of sustained success. That’s why they can do what they’re doing. The Cubs don’t have that. Yet.

I am curious about...

…what the secondary market is for Red Sox-Mariners, A’s, etc. tickets are. I dont think they made the playoffs last year.

Their renovation was done (dunno about gov’t assistance) when the economy was better, and they have every inch possible covered with ads. Does that please you aesthetically?

The Cubs will have people ‘falling over themselves’ to buy tickets to “the games of the year” against the Yankees, White Sox and Cardinals.

I am not defending the Ricketteseses, but I don’t want to become the Red Sox, either.

Yankees, maybe, because they only come to Wrigley about once a decade.

Sox and Cardinals come every year. I think they have priced those games too high.

I bet the Red Sox Nation (and I loathe the term) has the same angst about ticket prices Cub fans do.

I think the White Sox and Cardinal games will sell out, even at the ridiculous prices.

You can buy Red Sox bleacher tickets for $28.

Or less… “upper bleachers” are $12.

to the Sox and Cards for less than face value.
