Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Wishing you all a wonderful day and may you gobble til you wobble.

Happy Thanksgiving

Have a great day, as I am truly grateful to be a Cub fan.
Then on Black Friday the Cubs sign, Wood, Vasquez, Dunn, and Balfour all for a cool 15M. Cubs then trade Dome, Silva, Dewitt and Wells to Baltimore for Adam Jones and Brian Matusz. Oh, they throw in Jake Fox.
I just put the Vodka down, my work is done.

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

This team is so well run from top to bottom!

With the lowering of the payroll, rise in ticket prices, drop in attendance, lack of leadership in the clubhouse, and great confidence in our GM after the dismantling of a 97 win team to overpay for one player, we have nothing but great things to look forward to!

I’m sure they’ll be bidding on Kerry Wood and Adam Dunn now that they’re done re-painting the sign! With all of the money shortages and hardships, I hope that they’ll still have lights at the field next year!

Not yet...

We’re still “broke.” At least we’ll have a nice platoon of Xavier Nady and Scott Moore when we battle Adam Dunn and the White Sox this summer.

It could be Chris Davis. Would that count for you?

"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra

by Al Yellon on Nov 26, 2010 4:56 PM CST up reply actions

I'd rather have Jake Fox.

When he was given a chance to play every day, he did nothing but hit. It’s called respect when opposing teams get relievers up just to face someone, which they did for Fox. If you want to be reminded about his power, do a search on YouTube for Jake Fox and watch the replays of his grand slam. Off-speed pitch (not a fastball, which the Kool-Aid drinkers won’t let up on) crushed and which left the ballpark in about two seconds.

He was then relegated to the bench so that Bobby Scales could play every day, and his batting average started to dip. That’s what happens when you bat once a week against the other teams’ closers. It’s called getting cold, something that people know about when they know something about baseball.

Even with his limited playing time, he’s projected to hit 20 HR a season when he is played full time. He can also play 1B, 3B, LF, RF, and C at least as good as some of our starters do. I’m sorry, but I’d rather have him up to the plate down two runs with two runners on and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th than people like Jeff Baker or Koyie Hill.

It’s called an opinion on a player, and people can be fans of whoever they want to.

Also, I shudder to think what we’d give up for Chris Davis and his .194 average. You mine as well sign Carlos Pena.

by TheGrinch13 on Nov 26, 2010 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

no he cannot play all those position as well as you are saying

look at the stats on the link below and see how he is a NEGATIVE all over for his career with his glove. he may be a great guy, but he is not that good at baseball in MLB. He should think about Japan as well, where he can compete with Hoff and Murton

You should give up this argument.

He’s taken a couple of small sample sizes — Fox playing for a month, Davis for 120 AB — and pretended that those numbers would extrapolate over an entire career.

They wouldn’t.
