Too bad ...

…Li’l Mikey never got a hit, not even an at-bat. But he does get the ring. Good things can happen for good guys.

Good for Mike!!!!

DeRosa too….Who cares how much they played….

Mike deserves it for all those days watching Theriot play vs all those RH starters…..

Mike didn’t do much in the post-season, but the Giants were 7 games behind the Padres, and 3 games in back of the Rockies until they got him , and then they started winning. The Giants went after players who were good against them, like Mikey and Cody Ross, and it worked.

Frank Thomas was injured almost all year

He got a ring. Slightly different situation where Thomas was a White Sox for his entire career (to that point) vs Fontenot who is a rent a player

Comics Link

Maybe I’ve missed it since there are so many links on the sidebars, but I’m wondering if there could be a link to a collection of Mike’s work? I don’t get to drop by every day and I think there’s a good chance I’ve missed a few of his toons. And I’ll second Emelie’s comment on loving Mike’s comics.

On the left sidebar...

… under “Sections”, click on “Cartoons”. They’re all there.

One other thing. Bochy had a different lineup every day, but it worked for him. He did not hesitate to bench a star if he wasn’t producing. His highest paid player didn’t even make the WS roster. Lots of teams had more stars than the Giants, but Bochy knows how to get the best from his players. Big egos don’t help any team, and the Giants were a ragtag bunch of guys who left their egos at home. A guy like Fontenot fit perfectly on that team.

The Cubs managers could learn from how Bochy did it.....Its not all about what the players want.

This is why it scares me that the players wanted Quade. Do they think they have another manager that will coddle them?
