Let’s hope he’s smart enough not to do this, It’ll make me sick to see him in a White Sox uni.

See below.

You know, when I have some time I’m going to put this on the front page. MLBTR is a well-run site and useful, but sometimes they contradict themselves.

See, this is why you shouldn't believe every headline you read on MLBTR.

The headline says that. But if you go to the original source, which is this Chicago Tribune column, it says:

We heard from very good baseball sources that the White Sox had made a two-year offer to free agent pitcher Kerry Wood.

Wood played 10 years with the Cubs and pitched last season for the Yankees, who reportedly are interested in bringing him back.

Wood has said he does not want to play on the South Side, so it’s probably moot for him because the offer likely will evaporate if the club signs the Twins’ Jesse Crain as expected.

It’s moot. If you go down JUST ONE POST AT MLBTR, titled “White Sox Agree To Terms With Jesse Crain”, we learn that the Sox have signed Crain, and the offer to Kerry Wood was probably made long before this, and as noted elsewhere here, Wood told the same two Tribune writers that he wouldn’t play for the White Sox.

MLBTR needs to get its own act together and not put out headlines like this that don’t even make any sense.

I don't believe every headline on MLBTR

I did read the post below and I agree with you that they put out headlines that don’t make sense or are not of a timely fashion. I just thought this was funny after reading jokes that people have made on here about Ex-Cubs going to rivals (Ryan Theriot).

Thanks Al, didn’t have time to read the article all I saw was the headline. Thats the last time I make that mistake!

Another thing to note though...

… is that Dave Kaplan is a rabid Sox-hater and that infects everything he says about the Sox. It would kill Kaplan if Wood played for the Sox. And no doubt Kaplan is projecting with his oft-repeated, “Wood does not want to play on the South Side” comment.

Dave Kaplan interviewing Kerry Wood is kind of like Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney, only stir in some bitter hatred and jealousy.

It wasn't Kaplan that interviewed Kerry Wood for that column.

It was Fred Mitchell, who talked to him at the Dempster fundraiser on Friday.

The fact that Wood is apparently entertaining offers from the White Sox speaks volumes.

Just because the White Sox made an offer

Doesn’t necessarily mean Wood had any interest in the deal, correct?

Sure, if that makes your heart a flutter go with that.

If Kerry Wood were to sign with the Sox and help the Sox, fantastic. If Kerry Wood signs with the Cubs, fine with me. I hope he does well with the Cubs. However all this, “I’d never play for the Sox” stuff is chum for the gullible.

I regret and apologize for posting this:

“Sure, if that makes your heart a flutter go with that.” It was unnecessary. Sorry.

No offense was taken, it was a serious question i’m a young guy and do not know much about the business side of the sport as much as most of you seasoned vets.

You think so?

Apparently, that’s precisely what Wood told the Tribune’s Fred Mitchell at Dempster’s fundraiser last Friday.

Yes.

After all Wood’s time with the Cubs and hearing the envy, hate and jealousy of Cubs fans (especially post-2005) he knows very well what pleases Cubbie fans. This is a guy who signed with the Cleveland Indians.

until he acquires or offers a contract to every player that Cub fans want on the Cubs.

Seriously

I think he may come on BCB and see who we are getting excited about potentially signing then goes out and signs them himself.

Agreed.

A lovely story:

One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who didn't whine, nag or bitch. That would be me....

But that was a long time ago and it was just that one day.
