Merry Christmas to you too Al and everyone else here at BCB

Hopefully Santa will bring us a World Series sometime soon…

Well said Al,

Be safe, be happy, and let’s get a ballclub next year. To Mike Quade, good luck, may all your decisions be sound. To all the position players, hope you have career years. To our pitchers, mow em down without nibbling. And to BCB readers, let’s keep thus the best cubs site on the internet. Al, keep up the good work, be safe and happy this holiday season.

We'll miss you Big Boy. #10 for Hall of Fame.

Merry Christmas Everyone Please accept without obligation

express or implied, these best wishes for an environmentally safe, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, and gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday as practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice (but with respect for the religious or secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or for their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all) and further for a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated onset of the generally accepted calendar year (including, but not limited to, the Christian calendar, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures). The preceding wishes are extended without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee(s).

Merry Christmas to all and to....

The Cub hitters, may the breaking ptiches thrown to you hang and may the fastballs be in your wheelhouse. May the changeups rarely fool you and may the men in blue be stingy on the corners.

To the Cub pitchers—may the opposite of the above be true and may your ability to hold runners, pick them off and never balk be great.

To the defense—may your gloves never clank, may your throws be true and may you never miss a cutoff man.

To Mike Quade—may you exhibit the wisdom of Solomon when handling player’s egos, the media, umpires, bullpen and in game tactics.

To Jim Hendry and the Ricketts—may you never be fleeced in a transaction.

I can’t bring myself to say may we win it all this year—but at least wish for things to go well enough so that old #10 can look down from Heaven and be proud!

On a somber note

We always hear about how the holidays are a trying time for some people. This time around, I find myself in this position for the first time. As I feel isolated, defeated, and useless, and unable to grasp that things will get better.. one small but not insignificant positive constant in a desolate time is this community sharing a common interest.

Though it feels like it, I know I am not the only one struggling through the holidays this year. I want to let anyone else here who is feeling similarly know that they are not alone.

Thank you , Al, for continuing to support this blog. Thank you, participants, for being here.
i will now stop being a bummer where I can be seen. Peace.

I made turkey for Christmas

When a 90-year-old man tells you that it’s the best he’s ever eaten, you have to be a little proud. Lots of tips and tricks, but the first one on the list should be this: Buy a good meat thermometer and use it liberally. Once the thigh meat reaches 165 degF, the bird is done. Any more heat. and you risk katie’s scenario above.
