2010 BCB Community Projections: Jeff Baker

I've put Jeff Baker as the next selection because I think he's going to be the starting 2B, and get most of the playing time there.

If you disagree, make it part of your projection -- project him to play less.

The form to input your projection is after the jump.

Is it possible to see the spread sheet anywhere?

Not unless SWL sends me the info.

He’s the one compiling all of this.

I'll give Al a compiled spreadsheet and maybe a couple graphs for each player...

after their data input forms have been up for about a week.

Here's a Crazy Idea...

How about moving Castro to 2B?

Nope.

Not taking the bait today.

i thought we were trading

Castro for Kim Yong Il so we could lock up the Asian market for the next quarter century

by KyCubsFan on Feb 11, 2010 9:43 AM CST up reply actions

Not sure that would help.

I think most Korean ballplayers are from South Korea, not North Korea. Interesting idea, though.

You guys are being silly.

Jake Fox is a catcher.

And play Carlos Marmol at 2B!

Problems solved!

Oh fine, I'll join in.

Marmol came up as a catcher, let’s put him there. Why risk ruining him by playing him at second? BTW, since this thread was supposed to be about Jeff Baker, I’m predicting a season in which he platoons reasonably well with Mike Fontenot, and does exactly what he is supposed to do—play steady defense, and give the Cubs a decent bat at the bottom of the order. If he just plays his role, I’m fine with that.

ok here we go

Soriano 1B
Castro 2B
Theriot SS
Fox 3B
Fukudome CF
Byrd LF
Hoff RF
Marmol C

now look how strong our bench could be with
Aramis
DLee
Soto

almost as silly as those here who suggested Fox play 2B

and unlike you, Al, they were being serious

I hope Baker is for real, and he comes relatively cheaply

He showed some real signs last year, and Fontenot makes a solid backup. It is too bad that neither one can handle SS.

My opinion...

if anyone cares, is that Jeff Baker will be our “diamond in the rough”. I expect a good year from him. Well, hoping anyway. Go Cubs!!!
