Has anyone else noticed these "Year 1" banners all over the place that promote ticket sales?
Seems kinda odd. What is "Year 1"? The 1st year of the Ricketts dynasty?

if it does mean "Year 1" of the Ricketts Dynasty,
IMHO….that’s spoken exactly like a fan that’s an owner….not sure if I like it or not yet. I’m sure there will be more to it.
baseball.........is Kool Aid the remedy, or the cause of my desire for it
I guess.
It’s on the cover of the pocket schedule, too.

"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Can you scan and publish the pocket schedule, too?
The Cubs typically post a ‘printable schedule’ but I havent seen it yet.
I like to have the entire season schedule on a single 8 × 11 page.
Thanks.

Here you go.
2010 schedules (link opens .pdf — contains both spring and regular season schedules)
Note, this schedule is missing one game time — 8/12 at SF is now 2:45 CDT. The other three games listed as TBD on this schedule are still TBD.

I knew this was a full service site...
Thanks so much.

It's been so long since Jesus was born I forget...
So was last year Year 0 or 1 BR (before Ricketts)?
Anyone else slightly troubled by this advertising?

I'm okay with it. A little note to
remind people to judge them for the record and leave any 100 years angst on the prior owners.
If it makes them happy enought to spend and win, I approve this message.
at daver's request, Let's frontload this B**ch!
I can understand that message.
But it also makes the Cubs sound like an expansion team.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
I think the point is that it's a fresh start
I would have bought more into this advertising campaign if they would have started off “year 1” by bringing in a big name like Orlando Hudson or Curtis Granderson … the equivalent of what most teams try to do in the first year of a new ballpark (see 2006 Cardinals, 2009 Yankees, 2010 Twins, etc.)

Well, it's going to invite a lot of snickering from the peanut gallery, that's for sure.
But I don’t have a huge problem with it. The Ricketts apparently want to emphasize that this season is a “new beginning” now that they’ve taken over. I would’ve been a little more subtle about that but, hey, it’s their prerogative.
Snickering, sure
Maybe I’m reading too much into this but now I’m already wondering if the new owner has a Jesus complex….now do I not only want him to win a WS, I want to see him walk on water afterward.
Cubs better win now or snicker-fest could cross to Year One being mocked and mercilessly beaten like a drum by everyone who ever writes about the Cubs once they falter, making Year One potentially the new Bartman.
If they follow this up with a Sam Waterston Year One TV ad all will be forgiven. Woo could probably have fun with it too.

I don't think it's any different than fans seperating themselves from the 100 years bit
by simply acknowledging that they’ve only been alive for xx years of it. Rickett’s may be taking over control of a franchise that hasn’t won in 100+ years, but this is HIS year 1. It’s his team, he can call his ‘reign’ whatever the hell he wants as long as he spends intelligently and often, fixes up Wrigley, improves the conditions for our players and keeps everyone happy.
I’ll call the man whatever he wants if he brings us to the promised land!
Year 1 is cocky and I like it.
We’re never going to get away from the 100+year tag. Might as well own it.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
I sure hope it doesn't mean...
that they are “building a new tradition”

Uh oh
They won 73 games in ‘82, which puts them right on pace with BLou’s prediction!!
Yabbut don't forget....
… the 1982 team was coming off a year with a .369 winning percentage (in a strike season: that would have produced 102 losses in a full season). They had a much longer way to go than this year’s team does.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
And, they did build a new tradition.
The awful, awful teams of the ‘70s soon gave way to the best Cubs team of my lifetime. I’d take this year matching 1982 if it meant two years from now has a team of the caliber of the 1984 squad.

There's also a Cubs Monopoly game out there.
I think the Kidsnips where I take my daughter still sells it, even though it’s obviously way out of date.
I refuse to buy the one with Sosa as Park Place.
I’ve also seen one with Soriano. I don’t feel either deserves that honor. I’m waiting for a better version.

I like it. I think it's the Ricketts way of saying we are in for the long...
…run and we are committed to restoring gold glory to this franchise. I also like the way it says “Forget about the past. This is now.”
