Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Hi Fantasy Baseball/Cubs fans!
It's again time to ruin a fine season of baseball by forcing you to cheer for 22 random players and stay up late to see if Adrian Gonzalez gets a hit vs. the Pirates. It could only be fantasy baseball!

The league I set up is similar to the leagues I've set up here on BCB for the last 2 years. Here are the details:
12 team H2H
6x6 (standard 5x5 cats + OPS and K/BB)
Weekly lineup settings
$200 FAAB for waiver pickups
Lineups: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 4 OF, CI, MI, UTIL, 5 SP, 3 RP

New to Yahoo this year:
$300 budget auction

Auction is March 16 at 7:00 PM CST. Please make sure you can make the auction before joining the league. Missing players at auctions are lousy.

Here is the join info:
league ID: 299223
password: santo

Please Rec this post to keep it up until we get 12 teams. I will make a second league if there is enough interest.

March 2 auction?

Before any ST games have been played? Isn’t that a little early?

fair enough....

I’ll change the auction date.

One reason was that some people like to get some real drafting experiences in “fun” leagues before they draft for $$$ leagues….

Signed up.

I’ll be there for the draft.

Not a fan of auction leagues

If there is any interest for a standard H2H league, I’ll start it

I would sign up.

I always play in 2 leagues and I actually perfer H2H over auction.

2010 is OUR year.

Auctions > Drafts

Once you go auction, you’ll never want to draft again. Evens the playing field and takes away the advantage of getting the #1 pick…

Signed up

I think I may be the youngest of the group, and I’m VERY new to fantasy baseball…my team ended 7th in a 12 public head-to-head league last year, which wasn’t so bad considering it was my first season…this should be harder, however. I know how good Fukudomer is at fantasy sports (joined BCB fantasy football, ended 8th), and I know that pretty much everyone here knows FAR more baseball than I do.

don't worry, it's a cheap league. It's only $250 per team

kidding. Just for fun. Glad to be in another league with you.

First baseball league in many years.

I do not think I will carry over the success from football.

by imauis on Feb 24, 2010 8:58 AM CST reply actions

Is the league full??

I keep trying to sign up but on the team creation it kicks me back out to the log in! Any help??

by bdlugz on Feb 24, 2010 9:39 AM CST reply actions

If the league above interests you, hop to it.

If it appears too complicated, we have 5 slots remaining for a 10 team league.

Head to Head, autopick, last minute roster changes for the forgetful. We will set the draft for roughly halfway through ST.

Use your BCB name as part of your team name.

Love for more to join. League last year was competitive, but not too serious with mshayes000, iswaidz & clrkaddison aready signed up.

at daver's request, Let's frontload this B**ch!

I joined..

Anyway you can make it a live draft as opposed to Auto?

"...but you the living, you're stuck here with the Cubs. So it is ME who feels sorry for you." - Steve Goodman, "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request"

by HoSs. on Feb 24, 2010 11:09 PM CST up reply actions

No, we went to auto on purpose

Live drafts are best, but none of us have the time to participate. I realize we could set for live and let those with time live draft, but in my experience those drafting live have the advantage. Keeping auto maintains a level playing field.

Suggestion – when setting your draft order, move any player you’re suspect of to the “do not draft column”

may addition by subtraction be real

by N Oakley on Feb 25, 2010 8:58 AM CST up reply actions

I'm in this league as well

And I’m cool with autopick. It’s kinda cool to wake up with a fully drafted team… sorta like Christmas morning.

2 more spots available for the "complicated" league

Wonder what’s so complicated about it? Auction vs. “autodraft”?

by N Oakley on Feb 24, 2010 11:22 PM CST up reply actions

So I joined your fancy auction league...

Seems like a pretty cool concept, I’m looking forward to it. As usually I’ll probably miss the draft, get a crap team, and finish last, but it should be fun.

by lswaidz on Feb 25, 2010 10:11 AM CST reply actions

PS

Thanks for excluding “Holds” as a tracked stat… that was so annoying on a couple teams last year.

by lswaidz on Feb 25, 2010 10:13 AM CST up reply actions

Well, I nevah!

may addition by subtraction be real

by N Oakley on Feb 25, 2010 1:49 PM CST up reply actions

Seriously

It’s so annoying having to carry a useless pitcher just to get 3 or 4 damn holds a week…

by lswaidz on Feb 25, 2010 3:56 PM CST up reply actions

one could say the same about saves

just a made up stat for which you have 3-4 meaningless pitchers.

But really drafting on St Pat’s day?

sure

we’ll all drink beer while we draft. Didn’t realize it when I set the date.

So who wants to do a 2nd league?

I wasnt able to get into this “complicated” league but would like to set up one equally complicated. If there is enough interest ill set things up and we can go from there.

by AzCubfan24 on Feb 28, 2010 12:49 PM CST reply actions

I would as well -

wanted to sign up for the other one but a 7:00 pm auction with me working till 8 for a company like wells fargo doesnt equal either a drafted team or a job kept

I saw you in that coffee shop, breaking the fifth commandment. Congress passes these things for a reason, Lois.

We need 12 right? Looking forward to drafting, hope it will not take all night, would like to go out and enjoy st pats night!

Lookinf for one more in the original league (one had to drop)

Changed auction date to March 16 at 7 PM to honor the Irish.
