Look at it this way.

We didn’t expect Lilly to start the season anyway. And Guzman has had a long injury history.

This isn’t big news to me, let’s not get too pessimistic.

2010 is OUR year.

Sorry for the misleading title...

but all of the bad luck that the Cubs get sometimes just bugs me.

if you're talking to me...no problem....but, I get your angst....

the closer opening day comes the more nervous I get about the injury issue

Yes, I was talking to you...

And I’m with you on the Opening Day nerves…we’ll see how the rest of the Spring goes and I guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers!

by mikegncb34 on Feb 26, 2010 5:39 PM CST up reply actions

Not to worry

We’ve got Carlos Silva and around two dozen no-names that the kool-aid drinkers are convinved will give us the greatest bullpen on the planet.

Ted Lilly? His timetable for getting on the mound is NOT going to happen by opening day. No way, no how.

Its funny

If Soriano had the flu and made those statements, I bet many here would be calling him lazy and selfish.

I am in clean slate mode. Get this season started and see where it goes.

You know, I had to have met you just this morning, Mike

You know. You pulled up behind me at a gas station here in the Holy City and saw my Cubs bumper sticker and window as you gassed up. When I walked out with my paper and donut, you started talking to me like you knew me for years.

You told me that

“Well, looks like the Cubs are done for this year. Yep, saw them last week in Arizona. Saw Zambrano pitch, he looked good. Saw Soto skinnier, but who knows. You know that there’s no way they are gonna go anywhere.”

Without missing a beat because I didn’t want to keep the conversation, I just said “Yep, well you know how it is. There’s always 2011!”

You laughed knowingly as I got in the car and drove away.

That WAS you, wasn’t it?

I don't know which way we will go ..

Haha...But nope, wasn't me...

That may be something I would say out of sarcasm, and for the record, I am by NO MEANS giving up on this season. I just hate the bad luck we get sometimes.

Do you blame them?

Anything can happen, but I think I would be pretty depressed if I were a Mets fan. At least they were the one team I could
look down on last year as being more messed up than the Cubs ( and had a good payroll).

Ah, yes.

Spring is on the way, and the ledge jumpers return to BCB. Not exactly like swallows and Capistrano, but …

Although I’m not, at all. I never meant for this post to be turned this direction, but this is actually kind of fun. I should have just used a different title. My apologies to all.

Everyone is a ledgejumper at one point or another

Even if they don’t ever want to admit it.

*A ledge jumper is someone who declares the season is over within the first couple months of the season. Some ledge jumpers begin before the season even starts.
