Fox announces Saturday Broadcast schedule
The Cubs are going to be on eight times, including two Saturday Night inter-league games at the Cell and at Texas.
I'm sure those Saturday night blackouts are going to go over well.

Blackouts
Your mentioning of the blackouts is incredible. I just now have contacted MLB to see how the national blackout policy is going to be impacted by this. More details as I get them.
Thanks
Tell us as soon as you find out. I was assuming that Saturday night games opposite FOX would be blacked out.
Great minds think alike.
I just deleted a Fanshot about this. Two Saturday night games on FOX—should be interesting.
"I am not a poet, but a poem."--Jacques Lacan
It's not going to affect us
differently from a normal FOX broadcast because we’re scheduled for both night games. But for teams not scheduled to be broadcast, as you say, it should be interesting.
Your fanpost was a few seconds earlier. I saw it when I published. But mine is connected to the BCB and minor league twitter feed and I can put it on the front page. Only Al could put yours on the front page. Thanks for deleting yours. Technically, I should have deleted mine, but as I said, it was front paged and twittered.
Fox has an exclusive
window on Sat afternoons. I don’t think that is the case for the Sat 2 night games.
Hey, it's a new century!

Thanks for putting this on the front page.
These prime-time dates are a first. About blackouts? Who knows?
I wonder who “Tigers head” are.

Are these games under the same restrictions as Saturday afternoon?
I wonder.

So naturally that means
No Cubs baseball on Saturdays for us out on the West Coast. Still.

Or here in DC...
especially as the O’s are getting Saturday afternoon dates now.
Thanks, Bud.

This is not
a reason for joy. Oh, well. I was hoping there would be FEWER FOX broadcasts…
Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.
Each team can be on a maximum of eight Fox broadcasts.
So this is no different from previous years.

yes
but there could have been FEWER!

Their announcers hate the Cubs anyways
"But it doesn't matter what I do, what I choose. I'm what's wrong. This is fate" - Dexter season 4....I mean Lovie season 6.
but their execs luv
good ratings. hence cubs games>>>>>twins games>>>>>>pirates games
Never said the umps or anyone else
Just FOX, and it’s normal broadcasting crew.

Okay, I may have to suffer through 1-4 broadcasts here.
I will possibly get Cubs games on FOX on May 29 (vs. St. Louis), August 14 (at St. Louis), August 21 (vs. Atlanta).
The one I know for sure I will get is on September 4 (vs. NY Mets).
Huh.
Apparently, posting the did nothing. Chances that SB Nation has fixed that bug?
Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

I think we've found the new pirate graybar.

Neither have I.
I have no idea why this happened. Sending it to support.

of course it happened in my fanpost so I’m biased.

Nice
Potentially half of these games will air in NY. That’s a record.
Usually I have to turn on the Spanish FoxSports channel and listen to the audio broadcast on the computer…
Oh wonderful
8 games of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. One can only hope that Ken Rosenthal will also be offering commentary from down on the field.
Ironically, I find that McCarver alone isn’t too horrific to deal with during football season but whatever it is (I’m going to go with the obvious Cubs hate), baseball broadcasts are almost as horrendous as dealing with Joe Morgan for 2.5+ hours.
All that said, I’m glad at least that I live somewhere where these won’t be blacked out. A muted game on the TV is better than no game at all.

They may not all be Buck and McCarver...
… who often get sent to New York or Boston. Worse, we might get stuck with Thom Brennaman and Mark Grace, who are almost unlistenable.

Oh, really?
That’s hardly any consolation.
Which team gave the completely emotionless, sad call of Aramis Ramirez’ walkoff HR against St. Louis last year? It was the saddest I’ve ever heard an announcer in a baseball game.

Less games on WGN
will this be a trend under the Ricketts family? have they said anything about future tv rights expanding/shrinking? or are they moving towards a Cubs-Network like the spankees have?
"Anyone on our team that thinks we are cursed will be moved to a lesser-cursed team"
-Tom Ricketts
Less games on WGN....
… have been the trend for almost 10 years. Most teams are going to fewer games on broadcast channels and more on cable (the Diamondbacks are now all-cable).
The Cubs have mentioned the possibility of a YES Network type of channel, but it could be 10 years away.

Blackout (non) update
Maury Brown at Biz of Baseball has a response from MLB and FOX concerning Prime Time Blackouts:
“Details are still being worked out.”
If they weren’t planning on blackouts, there would be no details to work out. I suspect that they’re going to try to get teams not being televised by FOX to move their Saturday Night games to day games. But that’s just a guess on my part.
Again, none of this affects the Cub broadcasts, as the Cubs are scheduled to be on FOX in prime time both Saturday nights. Those of us who don’t live in the Chicagoland area will be at the mercy of the FOX broadcasting wizard whether or not we get those games, but that’s no different from Saturday day games. But a lot of us follow teams other than the Cubs as well, and those games may be impacted.
Come Down to Texas for the Rangers Series...
My family and friends still living in Chicago will be joining me in my transplanted home to attend all three games vs. the Rangers. If anyone is going to be down here, let me know as we’d love to have more attend the big tailgate bash we’re planning on throwing.
