Cubs prospects Numbers in the Fall/Winter Leagues..
Nice summary of our guys (and some ex-cubs) and their progress in the winter leagues. Most of the current prospects are at the bottom (e.g. Castro, Vitters, Russell, etc). Enjoy..

Looks like he only played six games
Wouldn’t be TOO worried ;)

Some really old names in there
Ward, Alfonseca etc.

Me either Jim
Mainly, because...
… that’s an Iowa Cubs page, and they put in any players who used to play at Iowa.

I looked this up because of one of the threads debating Castro's #'s
One person suggested he wasn’t really that great because he only hit .182 in winter ball, while another (Al?) said that he hit .376. Turns out they were both right, but Al was more right because he hit .182 in 22 AB’s in the Domincan League, while he hit .376 in over 100 AB’s in the AZ fall league (plus league leading 9 SB in 12 attempts!).

I had assumed the .180 figure quoted....
… was referring to his minor league stats, not winter league stats. Even so, .182 in 22 AB, after a long minor league season and over 100 AB in the AFL, is nothing to really be concerned about.

Agreed..
It seems a lot of people recognize how important Starlin’s success at the MLB would be to this organization – Success defined as becoming an all-star level middle infielder by the age of 23 or 24, and important because it would be the first such player grown by the Cubs farm system in ??? years.
