where did "no crying in baseball" come from....never heard that....does it include fans? (I hope not)

it's from the movie "A League Of Their Own"
popular movie about when they had the All American Pro Girls League during the WWII era. Tom Hanks is the grizzled, grumpy, drunken ex-player tabbed to be their manager and Geena Davis, Rosie O’Donnell, Lori Petty, Madonna are some of the players.
Here’s the scene where that phrase became popular.
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
I get sucked in watching it any time it's on cable
The scenes at Wrigley are great. It’s always fun to see a place you know in the movies.
And it’s based on a true story.

On my list of Top Five Baseball Movies
along with Eight Men Out, Bad News Bears (Walter Matthau version), Damn Yankees, and It Happens Every Spring.
What no RHUBARB?
I would still take BULL DURHAM over several of those. I love BANG THE DRUM SLOWLY but probably not a
“real” baseball film.

"The Natural"
Still my all-time favorite. The ending, along with Randy Newman’s amazing music gets to me every time I watch it.

The Natural is the best baseball movie period
And I put Field of Dreams in that list

What struck me about the article was
That I did not realize that both CIN and CLE do spring training in AZ. That’s two Eastern Time zone teams in AZ. I would suspect that the majority of their fan bases go to FL for winter vacations. But a free spring training facility will change those numbers around.

The reference to very old Pirates facility struck me
I can’t imagine the Pirates have much leverage in trying to get a new stadium in either Florida or AZ. Good luck convincing local officials that your numerous fans will bring in lots of money to the area.

The Pirates
actually have one of the newer ballparks in the Grapefruit League. McKechnie Park was completely rebuilt in 1993.
This just shows how ridiculous this whole spring training thing has become. The Pirates have a ST ballpark that is one of the newer ones in Florida, and it is 4 years older than Hohokam is.
Did they not do night games in FLorida till recently?
Just odd that they did not get lights till 2008

Spring Training
Night games are a fairly recent development. And they are far more common in FL than in AZ. In the desert it cools off much more rapidly at night.
I think it is mainly for ESPN and other TV outlets.
I think is it far more odd that the Dodgers ballpark in Vero Beach didn’t have dugouts!
I have been to the Sarasota/Bradenton area
and I have never seen either the Pirates’ or the Reds’ ST facilities. When the Reds left Sarasota, the city tried to get the Red Sox but to no avail.
The article is right. FL is now more difficult to travel around for ST games – longer drives. The east coast of FL has lost a lot, especially with the Dodgers moving west.

AZ still nervous about the Cubs

That article...
… is one of the worst pieces of journalism I have ever seen. Looks like the editor said, “Hey, we haven’t covered this story. Go talk to some Cubs fans and Ron Santo and we’ll get some old facts to make it look like we researched it.”
There’s nothing new in that article and the headline is 100% misleading.

I thought
much the same thing when I read it on Saturday. In fact, I looked to see what the date of the byline was, because it seemed to me like it had been written before the MOU was signed. A lot of the “information” in that article is as stale as last month’s bread.
