I know, I know. It's another Bradley post. But it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen.

LOL, wonder if he'll get suspended.

I heard earlier the announcers said Bradley said “I have nothing bad to say about Jim Hendry, he gave me $30 million.”

There are a couple of comments at the end of that article

that he didn’t say a thing. I don’t think you have to say anything to give attitude. Fair or not, players get tossed when the ump thinks he is being disrespected.

I stumbled across...

…this .gif over at the Mariners’ blog. I don’t see anything in it that’s worth being ejected for.

Yet unless he didn't realize he was tossed

he sure didn’t react as if he knew he was gonna be run and had no problem with it.

Either way, I am SO glad we aren’t starting ALL over again.

comedy gold....
With one out in the third inning and the Mariners trailing, 2-1, Bradley, who started the game in left field, dropped his bat and began taking off his batting gloves after the called third strike and was immediately tossed by Bellino.

That prompted a visit from Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu, who, in discussing the matter with the umpire, claimed Bradley’s actions were a product of mistakenly thinking it was the last out of the inning.

“In all fairness to Milton, I thought he thought there were three outs,” Wakamatsu said.

I watched that inning

and that’s exactly what happened. He thought he made the 3rd out, again, as he did striking out in his first AB. The ump really had a short fuse on Bradley, he never said a word or even looked at the HP ump. Weird, but this time, Bradley got wronged.

I've been one of his more vocal critics

But that didn’t look like a transgression that warranted an ejection.

I think I’ve sided with the umpire more because its sort of a “I told you so” mentality on my part than anything else…not saying its right, mind you.

My level headed side tends to agree with you

that the ump overreacted. However, I’m thinking more along the lines of Zeke and cg on this that he is past the benefit of the doubt and it’s a warning right off the bat in ST that the umps aren’t going to put up with anything from him.

A little ashamed to admit it, but this story made me laugh. Especially the part about him losing count of the outs. LOL

The MB talk would stop if he didn't continue to provide stuff for us to talk about.

How many times are major league ballplayers allowed to forget how many outs there are in an inning? Just wondering.

For 10 million a year I think I could at least pay attention to the game.

I think what I like most about this is not MB's 'misfortune'...

it’s the fact that some OTHER manager and some OTHER GM gets to deal with the ’he’s misunderstood’ spin now.

Doesn’t that feel good? I thought it would…

Bradley has new Syndrome

It’s called Premature Inning End Syndrome. PIE Syndrome occurs when a baseball player is unable to track the number of outs in an inning, either as the batter or as a position player.

A lesser known corollary of PIE Syndrome occurs when a player does not realize the inning is over and continues the play after 3 outs. While embarrassing, there are no harmful side effects to this disease.

PIE Syndrome is serious and should not be taken lightly. Baseball players around the world suffer from PIE Syndrome and doctors are working furiously to develop a cure, or at least a therapy or coping mechanism.

PIE Syndrome is loosely related to other sports maladies such as Calling Timeout When You Don’t Have Any Left Syndrome, Wrong Goal or Basket Scoring Syndrome, and Poor Golf Card Math Syndrome.

Bradley

I just think it goes to show you that he really only cares about himself. He doesnt seem like he even pays attention to the game let alone care if his team wins. Milton you are a truely selfish person and I hope after burning so many bridges you are all alone at a old age.

by Kchance on Mar 18, 2010 9:47 AM CDT reply actions

Anybody else doing that

would not have been ejected. But Bradley carries so much baggage because of his past history, no umpire is going to cut him any slack.

by Clark Addison on Mar 18, 2010 10:05 AM CDT reply actions

And therein lies the problem!

For an umpire, Bradley should be a number on the back of a uniform, and given exactly the same consideration and fairness afforded to any other player.

Unless he has already called attention to himself in said game, any other stance by an umpire is, in my opinion, indefensible, and inappropriate. In this particular incident, the umpire flat out got it wrong.

"I lof to hit de home ron!"

by Tekboy on Mar 19, 2010 12:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Don't agree

When calling balls and strikes, you’re absolutely correct, the strikezone should not change based on who’s at the plate.

When you’re talking about when they get ejected, and how much leeway they have when they are showing up an ump (and let’s face it, how is the ump supposed to know that MIlton can’t count to three) there is going to be a difference. If a player is going to constantly get into trouble with umps, constantly try to show them up when he disagrees with them, then he should expect to get run when they think that’s exactly what he’s doing.

I guess I'm just a worrier, that's why my friends call me whiskers
