Marlon Byrd helps out any way he can --- I love hearing stuff like this
Marlon Byrd is helping out the pitchers as well. He noticed that Carlos Marmol was tipping his pitches and Marmol fixed the problem. I really like Byrd's overall attitude and I think he's going to bring a lot to the Cubs this year.

I love this type of teamwork
Sunday Feb 28 at 7 PM CST free webcast of the live taping of The Austin Variety Show www.austinvarietyshow.com/
One of the Comcast shows had an interview with him the other day
and it seemed like he is a really good guy. At ST two weeks early to work on hitting, etc. However what worries me is he mentioned how he basically plays with chronic pain in his leg from an injury that happened to him 10 years ago. I hope this doesn’t hinder him too much this season.
I love his attitude.
I think the idea to bring him in was an excellent one, and I think he will have a breakout year.
2010 is OUR year.
I sure hope
That he has that breakout year .. Really hoping the platooning of Fuku and Nady works out . I really like Nady’s stats of two years ago .. I am sure he can do it again , just stay healthy .. Byrd looks comfortable with Rudy .. Went to see them work out , Byrd looks like he is in great shape .. Looks like Soto is taking the game more serious too .. If Soto can have a year like his rookie season His hard work will pay off .. Soto looks like he is in great playing weight .
Byrd as a Ranger
I watched Byrd play his entire career here in Ranger land, he hussle’s and plays hard, but, if we are expecting 30+ h.r., or 120+ r.b.i., it ain’t gonna happen. He was in a rotation system here for the Rangers, Washington(manager) had five or six guy’s he rotated around all outfield posistions , now Byrd did hit, but, everyone hits here. Thus his numbers were inflated some what. Don’t get me wrong I like Marlon Byrd, just not as the savior of the missing centerfielder for my Cubbies.

Fair enough.
I’m happy Marlon is here, but I’m keeping my expectations in check as well. His career numbers are solid but not spectacular. That said, if he can be a sort of full-time version of Reed Johnson (without the severe splits, of course), I think we’ll all be pretty happy.
Agreed... fair enough, indeed.
After last year’s disaster of expectations (i.e., Gamboard will be a middle of the order thumper), it seems expectations have been tempered.
If Byrd plays solid D, is a good clubhouse influence, and can put up 22-28 HR and 75+ RBI… well, that would help tremendously.
That's fantastic!
It’s great to have that kind of camaraderie on the team. Better living and maybe a couple of extra wins through chemistry.
