Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

What a class act. This link plays video -- well worth watching, about two minutes of Vin explaining what happened.

Vin is one of the greatest

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

The greatest announcer EVER...

…for any sport! Glad he’s ok and looking great @ 82! Love ya Vin!

Speaking of Vin Scully...

…check out this 2:20 youtube clip and listen to the incredible story Vin tells the Pepperdine graduates — It’s a pretty cool story

Vin is truly a living legend...

…and one of the last links to baseball’s past. I mean, he actually announced for the BROOKLYN Dodgers at Ebbetts’ Field!

I wish him well and hope he decides to hang around a few more years (although I understand he’s going to start cutting back a little bit this year).

Shouldn't guys like Scully be allowed to vote for the Hall of Fame?

Did any writer see more baseball than Vin, Harry,Skip, Harwell, Buck, etc?

by BVictor on Mar 22, 2010 10:38 AM CDT reply actions

Correct.

The HoF voting is almost irretrievably broken. It’s up to the Hall to fix it. But they won’t.

Personally, I think the reason the BBWA

is unwilling to include anyone else in the voting is this is the last power they have.

The newspaper industry is dying and their numbers are dwindling. With so many of their members switching to electronic media, the change may just happen because the newspaper industry will become extinct.

Hey, it's a new century!

I agree with you.

The BBWAA have let some electronic writers in. That’s good, but it’s clear to me that a lot of longtime broadcasters should have a vote, and some longtime BBWAA members — some of whom have not attended a baseball game in a decade — should not.

Agreed

But let me tell you it’s fun to watch him on ATH. He’s like Blou: makes these statements, pounds them into you, doesn’t care about counter arguments, and when he’s proven wrong he flips
