While the article talks about the Rangers game (hockey not baseball) being broadcast next week in 3-D, how long until we get some baseball?

I get cablevision and I'm intrigued to see what hockey will look like in 3D. I can also tell you that ESPN is currently part of the 3D channels offered. Could it be possible opening day will be in 3-D?

Why the Rangers?

They suck. Make a Blackhawks vs. Redwings game in 3-D. At least that would be an interesting game to watch.

I don't think that will happen.

I think that the cable net work that planned the Islander and Rangers game (terrible choice for a 3-D game) to be on 3-D planned this a while ago. Seeing how we’re two weeks a way from opening day, and seeing how ESPN hasn’t said anything about this, makes me think that an opening game day will not be televised in 3-D.

But ESPN is part of the 3-D channels

They have a bunch of HBO channels, ESPN and I don’t remember the last one.

As for why Rangers/Islanders were picked – it’s a NY/NJ/CT cable system.

should have included this quote
FULL HD3D ™

Utilizing SENSIO® 3D technology to deliver 3D content over conventional 2D infrastructure, the new VIZIO XVT Pro Full HD3D TVs display stunning 3D content that the user can view with XpanD active-shutter glasses (sold separately). Unlike other 3D TVs that use passive stereoscopic imaging, VIZIO’s Full HD3D TVs can display full 1080p video to each eye by rapidly alternating between the left-eye and right-eye images within the same visual space. The special active-shutter glasses, which communicate with the television over Bluetooth, then transform each lens from opaque to transparent in perfect synchronization with the images displayed on the TV, which allows for delivery of the full frame rate capable by the television for the ultimate 3D HDTV viewing experience.

These sets can produce 3D images from SENSIO encoded material on conventional DVD and Blu-ray players, as well as from future distribution channels such as pay per view, video on demand, DTV and HDTV broadcasts.
