I noticed that (insert Major League team name) just (released/Designated for Assignment) (insert name of player here). While it may be true that he (is past his prime/never really was very good/has a history of being a miserable teammate/has faced legal issues) and (hardly recovered from serious injury/is due for a DL stint if signed/may have the DL named after him at some point in the future/has no real value when totally healthy), I'm thinking Jim Hendry ought to consider signing this guy.
After all, he (had a good year six years ago/was a high draft pick/has at least one major league average ability/played well in a game I attended/looks great in a uniform, or did a couple years back) and is (as good as/better than/less expensive than) (guy who signed a wretched contract a couple years ago/guy who is ticketed for Iowa).
C'Mon Jimbo, get it done.
