I'm remaining cautiously optimisitc about the end of LOST.

Some people are into lost for the mystic aspects, some are in it for the story/characters. I’m more with the latter. I expect some legitimate closure for the LOSTies. And I’ll be perfectly happy with it. Any SciFi elements explained along the way are just gravy.

Chris Robinson

He’s supposed to be a solid catcher right?

by ryanbaker08 on Mar 5, 2010 3:41 PM CST reply actions

We have about four catchers

in the system that are close to being MLB backups now. From Robinson, Chirinos, Castillo, and Clevinger, all float between almost acceptable bats to reasonably acceptable gloves. Clevinger is the better defender.

2009 Sergio Burruel (19 yo) is a long way away, but has the better bat. Matt Jones was in Boise (22) and has hitting potential.

Goedel says, ‘No, we can’t tell if the joke is funny because we’re inside it—if we could observe ourselves from outside, we would know.’

Chomsky just shakes his head sadly. ‘No, no,’ he says. ‘The joke is funny. You’re just telling it wrong.’

ah, from @TheCCO on Twitter:

Darwin Barney walks in bottom of 8th on a 3-2 pitch with 2 outs … Forced in Vitters with tying run, 6-6.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Apparently we are tied at 6 going into the 9th

So, really, current score aside

This can be looked at as another good outing. Our new guys have performed well, or at least, better than expected, and aside from a grand slam, the Cubs would be winning this easily. Makes me feel just a bit better about things.

Matt Camp made an error at 2B

And we’re still not sure about Millar getting gunned down at home. Other than that, seems like a fairly solid effort.

Those are the guys I care most about

I’m not expecting much from Millar or Camp, but with a changing of the guard coming, I’d like to see some of the younger guys take charge, contribute to a great season this year, and have another great season next year. We only have three more seasons until everything goes POOF!

Keys to the system in todays game

Castro represents, check
Brett Jackson has a good game, 2 walks, check
Vitters does well, check
Z survives first start, check
Casey Coleman upgrades trade status, 2 scoreless, one hit, check
DeRosa trade members do well, 3 innings, 6 runs, bzzzt
Colvin keeps hitting, 2-3, check

Not bad

It may be insane of me to say this

but I think it’s time to stop caring about what the Cubs got out of trading DeRo. If it’s loss for the team, then there’s nothing you can do but move forward.

What makes me happy:

Starlin Castro: 2-4, 2B, R
Tyler Colvin: 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI
Josh Vitters: 2-4, 2 R
Brett Jackson: 1-1, 3B, R, RBI, 2 BB

I could care less who actually wins this game after performances like those.

Stated more eloquently above, but....

Back in the day, a spring loss involved so many players I’d never heard of, it was tough to care.

Now with BCB, Josh’s updates, instant boxscores and the like, I’m very interested in ‘pointless’ March results. Our top prospect and 3 of our last 4 number one picks had solid outings. Life is good.
