An Almost Perfect Night In Des Moines.......

To steal from Tony Bennett: We Left Our Game In Arizona!  The I-Cubs Start is mirroring The C-Cubs. Maybe they should move ST to International Falls and the players would be better accustomed to playing in the cool spring weather.....

Last night was a beautiful night here in DSM. The temp was good, maybe a little cool, with no wind. The crowd was smallish for a Friday night but everyone was energized. Too bad the I-Cubs bats weren't. After being no-hit for 3 innings Micah got us going by going yard to the deepest part of the ballparkin the 4th to tie the game. Next inning the Sounds responded with 2 runs and then save Jason Dubois's bomb to almost the same spot as Micah's the I-Cubs never really threatened again, unless you call a couple of 2-out hits that resulted in leaving runners stranded a threat....kind of sounds familiar huh?

Star-divide

I can say that being a Cub fan for 40+ years it is extremely cool to have Ryne here as the I-Cubs manager. He looks like he is still in awesome shape and could be called up to still play 2nd at any given moment. Even at 50 he would probably be an improvement...... While I am limited in the number of games that I am able to attend, I do plan to attend all that I am able to take advantage of this short term stay for him.  I think that if he is not managing in Chicago in the next year or two he will soon be managing an opposing team :-(  He says he would love to remain a Cub forever but he also says that his goal is to be a major league manager. I Want Him to Be the CUBS manager!

I'm hoping much success to him  and the Cubs in 2010!

Here is a link to my FB Photo album from last night's game.   enjoy if you like.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=15453&id=100000466068780&l=83f2e0a689

OT: Cool Signature

I’m not old enough to remember Big Star, but I have become pretty familiar with the music. It was sad to hear about Alex Chilton passing because he died fairly young.

Have to say

Big Star is a little before my time, but thanks to the Mats and that song, they became really cool when I was in college.

One thing that sometimes gets forgotten in the Chilton obits is that the Box Tops were a heck of a band too—much more than just “The Letter.”

I'll Catch Two Games in Memphis

I’ll see the Friday night game and either the Tuesday or Thursday night game at AutoZone Park next week.
