Paid Protesters Picket Wrigley
I hadn't heard about this, but found it pretty interesting: apparently there were "several dozen protesters...protesting the proposed Toyota sign...in left field." The catch is, it was just a craiglist gig, where the protesters were paid $25 to stand outside Wrigley and hand out fliers.

I think they should add a slogan to the bottom of that sign....
Can’t Stop Toyotas…..Can’t Stop the Cubs……

Almost as good at the new slogan for the Lexus GX460...
“The Lexus GX460: Rollover a new leaf.”
And in the continuing line of Lexus/Toyota fails:

Notice anything wrong in that image? Specifically w/ the red car…
What is a horse shoe? What does a horse shoe do? Are there any horse socks? Is anybody listening to me?
its missing a roof?

And the angle of the red car, there's no way that smoke is real
The sun is also airbrushed in on the hoot of the red one…it looks like all three were airbrushed. Not a good photoshop job guys

At this point
I really could care less about the looks of the sign – I am more concerned with its safety.

At the end of the day...
…I blame the owners of the Budweiser house (yes I still call it that). Had they not been so greedy, it would have never got to this point.

I would not be surprised to find out that the owner
of the Bud house was really behind the protesters.

From what I've heard...
…the house was recently sold for $8M. Bud was paying them $500k per year to advertise. So give or take a year, the house would be paid in full over 16 years. I always wondered why Bud didn’t buy it themselves. Turn it into some sort of Budweiser party house.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Probably too much effort and liability issues with running a house/bar. Probably easier to just pay for the advertising.

Well "party house" may have been the wrong choice of words.
But at the rate they were going (at least from what I’ve read), it seems to make sense that they should have just outright bought the house.
If Captain Morgan can run their own bar, why couldn’t Budweiser?

I sat in the upper deck between home and first on Monday
I looked out toward the Budweiser house and imagined a billboard there instead. It wouldn’t block the view of any rooftop seats, it fits in a gap where there’s nothing else to see but the current advertising. I don’t think it would detract from the feel of the park at all.
Just my 2 cents.

I took that same look Monday from the upper deck between 3rd and home.
You are right that it doesn’t look like it will block the rooftop views. However, I had the opposite thought about it detracting. I thought that is going to have be one ginormous sign if they really intend for it to block that Horseshoe casino ad.

The new Horseshoe casino ad...
… has something on it advertising that you can enter a contest, and if a player hits the rooftop one fan will win $1 million.
It will never happen. I have never seen a ball hit that roof; in the last 30 years maybe five balls have been hit that far, most down Kenmore, the one that Glenallen Hill hit on the rooftop across the street, etc. But the Horseshoe rooftop is farther.
What they have done, though, is made the “HORSESHOE CASINO” part of the ad much smaller — thus losing its effect on television. Once the Toyota sign goes up no one will be able to read anything on that roof.

I got a press release about the contest.
And the rooftop banner has been redone.

I didn't notice on Monday.
Although I was in the 400’s, so maybe that was why.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
I certainly don't have a problem with the Toyota sign,
but I am one who is all for putting in a jumbotron type video board across the street on the aforementioned rooftop. I think they could work out some pretty simple way to keep the viewing angle limited to inside the ballpark. And having a video board does not have to equal loud, obnoxious music. I am a little biased though, I currently work developing content for collegiate video boards.
