Absolutely screwy and wacky idea for the pitching staff
So, with that caveat…
1) When Lilly comes off the DL, set up the rotation like this: Zambrano, Lilly, Wells, Silva and Gorzo
2) Dempster back as closer.
3) Set up guys: Marmol and Marshall.
4) 7th inning and mopup: Grabow, Berg, Russell, Samardzija.
Sittin' on the ledge and sippin' Kool-Aid...
Screwy and wacky might be being generous there. :)

someone brought up the idea of trying him as the 2 hitter so he sees more fastballs. Not a terrible idea. My only question is if the book on a hitter is “no fastballs!” do they still throw fastballs to the leadoff hitters?
by cubsonWGN4ever on Apr 16, 2010 1:47 PM CDT up reply actions
Nope thats why I think he would be good for a team like the Cardinals order how they have it set up havin the pitcher 8th and have Soriano that way he would get more fastballs

Soriano and Geo did not produce last year.
This year:
Soriano: .214/.241/.393/.634
Soto: .211/.423/.368/.791
The only difference is, in a small sample size, Geo has 7 walks to Soriano’s 1. Nobody’s calling for Soto to be yanked. Just sayin’.
because getting on base counts and throwing out runners and blocking the plate for outs counts as production.
Sori not only gives us nothing on offense, he gives us negative value on defense.

Not true at all.
Byrd had the right to that ball. Byrd clearly called Fukudome off. Fukudome ran into Byrd making him drop the ball. All Dome’s fault there.
There is an issue of communication as well though.
You can’t look at this in a 10 second vacuum. Both players have done things in the weeks and months leading up to this to prepare for that sort of play. The fact that our outfield tandem screwed it up means that at this point, they need to work out their communication issues.
