Somebody had to go to the Bullpen, who should it have been

Since this has been one of the most discussed topics, I thought we should have a poll to see which Cubs starter should have been moved to the Bullpen. For the poll, I am assuming that any of the 5 current starts could be moved to the bullpen or Ted Lilly as he comes off the disabled list. And I'm assuming none of the starters is just dropped or traded away - you have to pick a starter to move to the bullpen. The starters are listed alphabetically by last name. I'll set the Poll to expire on Saturday before the start of the game.

i think we should just have a 6 man rotation

They would be well rested and be the best staff in the NL.

They should've:
  • Sent Russell back down, moved Da Gorz to the pen.
  • Sent Samardzija back down, brought up Diamond.

Eh?

Um if Shark does not go down when Lilly is activated

It would be a worse move than putting Z in the bullpen (though not as catastrophic). I don’t think Russell is so bad but there are a couple of guys at AAA doing well if you want to flip him.

Uh, that's what I said - send the Shark down and given Diamond a shot.

I don’t think Russell is so bad either, but there are too many lefties in the pen and he’s the easiest one to drop. Plus, Da Gorz is showing some nice K numbers, which are all the more beneficial in late innings. And, long-term, I see Russell as more of a “sure and steady” Randy Wells-type starter anyway.

I’m not saying this would’ve been the silver bullet for the bullpen, by any means. But scoring runs is still the primary problem.

Thomas Diamond.

A scrap heap pickup by Jim Hendry last year. Used to be one of the Rangers top prospects (along with John Danks).

I remember him

He was gonna be the “d” part of the great “d.v.d.” for the Rangers. As usual they let Danks, Volquez go, they are pretty good, kept Diamond he is trash.

Diamond was injured.

Healthy now. Might still turn into a decent reliever.

put me in the outfield

I could probably run faster than half the team. Just need to get my power up and I’ll be a living nightmare for everyone lol.
