What if this works?

According to the Sun Times, one of the press box wags was overheard to say "What if this works?", after Carlos Zambrano came in and closed out the 7th inning of last night's game inducing a tapper back to the mound by Rickie Weeks.

A good question, I say.

Much has been made locally and nationally (and via the web, internationally) over the Cubs move of Big Z to the bullpen. Carlos labored a bit against the heart of the Brewers order in the 8th (no crime in that, lots of pitchers do) and even chipped in with a sac fly to help pad the lead (leaving a shoe in the batters box to boot).

His post-game comments are open to interpretation. Carlos was short with the media and Marlon Byrd stepped in to field questions after Carlos apparently made an abrupt exit from the locker room gaggle.

But you can't argue with the results. He locked down the 8th and then Marshall and Marmol closed out the 9th. Just like Lou drew it up.

What if this works?

I say it's going to be fun finding out.
