He's the slowest Yankee in home run trots.

According to the Web site that tracks this stuff

http://www.wezen-ball.com/2010-articles/april/the-home-run-trot-tracker.html

A-Rod isn’t in the Top 10 for slowest trots this year. Nor is any other Yankee in the Top 10 for fastest trots this year.

Nothing to see here.

29 seconds?

Man, that seems slow.

According to the list...

… it’s Alex Gonzalez, not Rodriguez. It took me a minute to recognize that as well. The write-up says that Gonzalez tripped over 1B and had to go back to touch it.

He's above the average time, but not all the way to 29 seconds.

A-Rod’s average is definitely the slowest and he averages about 3 seconds longer to trot than MLB average. But according to the WSJ totals from 2009 and the write-up on one of A-Rod’s 2010 HRs, he’s consistently around 25 seconds.

No, I realized it's Alex Gonzalez.

A-Gon appeared more than once on that list, right?

Just my mistake then.

The write-up for these are pretty cool. I like getting the situational details (with a few interjected opinions for good measure). The list I see has Gonzalez, three Miguel Cabreras, a couple of Jose Guillens, two different Molinas, a Manny and an Abreu. The writer gives a few reasons for the slow times: Abreu’s was a GW granny, Manny’s was a PH 2-run HR in the eighth to give LA a 1 run lead, and the Molinas are catchers (but they’re not really THAT slow).

It looks like the writer’s early favorite for showboating in Jose Guillen. I think it could be close given Cabrera’s slightly higher entry total.

Whoops! (more misreading by yours truly)

Abreu’s granny didn’t win the game. It brought the Angels within 2 runs in the 9th. Mo Rivera came in for NY and that was the end of that comeback.

I think I'd agree with Guillen as a top "showboat".

I was suprised to see Byrd not on the quickest list.

Searching through the archives, he has two mentions of Byrd going around the bases in a brisk 19 seconds.

I got a kick out of this Arod story as well

Some rooking pitcher for the A’s takes Arod to task for cutting across the pitchers mound. Supposedly a no-no. I don’t think it’s the biggest deal in the world, but I like the guy’s line about how he should “watch his Captain” more often.

That story got a fair amount of attention in the local media

I agree it is not a huge deal, but I like how Braden handled it.
