What an exciting game!

I had the day off and got to enjoy the game with Little Andre Santo Sandberg Neifi Aaron Miles Worfington. I was telling him, as he kept trying to cram toy after toy into his mouth, that such baseball games are a treat.

You had two evenly matched teams going at it and giving it their all. That's what makes baseball, and sports, great, really. You can watch two high school teams, or D-III teams, and get a good game, so long as they are evenly matched and motivated.

I am a diehard Cubs fan, but I have to say, if the Cubs and Pirates played all 162 games against each other, I think they would both finish 81-81. They are that evenly matched.

Yes, it looks like the Pirates will get the Cubs today, but it was close, and that's a moral victory.

What's that, son? The Cubs should expect MORE than being evenly matched with the Pirates? With our payroll and theirs, we should be beating them?

Why, that's CRAZY talk, son. Now, just enjoy the show. The Cubs this season won't get too many even matches.

Maybe if

the Pirates hired Aramis as their hitting coach we’d have a chance this series.

Ahhh...the airing of grievances

True

and if our GM wasn’t such a nice guy we probably wouldn’t have been able to convince Aramis and Zambrano to stay, or entice Soriano and Bradley to come here.

Did anyone see that Evan Meek guy pitch today?

He was HORRIBLE. hahahaha

I’m glad the Cubs don’t have guys like HIM in their bullpen…

Try living in Pirates country (if there really even is one)...

and having their AAA Pittsburgh Pirates beat up on the Cubs. I’ve been telling everyone who gives me shit the same thing Worf is saying here. It is two evenly matched teams going at it.

United we stand and united we'll fall......down on our knees the day we win it all!

thank god, we'd be about 11 games out of first if they could!

I'm usually a pretty optimistic Cubs fan

But this season is looking very bleak, which doesn’t mean I’m not going to root for them, but at some point you have to realize this team does not look good at all.

And that point

hasn’t arrived yet.

As was said elsewhere, not too early to be ticked off at the results, but too early to jump ship.

I'm not jumping ship

As I said, I am going to keep rooting for them, no question about that, but to say they do not look good does not take away from my ability to be a Cubs fan. Unless something happens, in my opinion Lou getting fired, I don’t think this team has much of a chance to compete this year.

Pirates May Actually Finish Close to .500

The Pirates haven’t even finished close to .500 since 1999, when they were 78-83. I think they can finish that well this year. I don’t know if the Pirates are ever going to contend on a regular basis ever again.

Say What?

How much does it cost you and your son to see a high school or D-III team? You’re part of the problem. Everyone has fun at the old ballpark and could care less that the product stinks.

Worf is right, these are 2 almost evenly matched teams.

Next week however we get to start playing the weaker teams like the Phillies. Then the Cubs will start making up ground!

Honestly, I'm looking forward to those games.

Maybe playing the “harder” teams in the NL will do something for them.

Ahhh, yes.

Playing good teams is what the Cubs need. That’s the ticket for sure. It’s been down right embarrassing that they’ve been asked to play the likes of the Pirates, Marlins and Reds. Why those clubs should be mighty thankful that Hendry’s nine has even seen fit to take the field with them. It’s no wonder the boys got demoralized and lost.

Yeah, that crappy Reds team

that’s in first place. Or the crappy Marlins team that just swept the Mets. Oh, well.
