Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Last year, Ibanez was worth 2.6 wins more than Bradley, and I won't even begin to suggest what chemistry value would have been there, but surely it wouldn't have been enough to catch the Cards. So, had we signed Ibanez, would we have traded Fukudome this past off-season?

out of curiosity

is the premise in your text that we could have caught the Cardinals last year and made the playoffs at the sacrifice of being say…. 10-15 instead of 12-13?

because if you frame the discussion like that i think most would’ve taken the potential playoff appearance last year in sacrificing a few games on a .500 club this year

I thought I was suggesting we wouldn't have caught the Cards.

4/9/10: Carlos Silva strikes out Joey Votto on three pitches. Is that what you mean by "small sample size"?

misread that

I don't think that many people lobbied for Ibanez.

I don’t think I ever did. He would have been a nightmare in right, especially at Wrigley.

Given what ended up happening with Bradley, I think my choice would have been Abreu or none of the above.

Speaking of Bradley

(thankfully this isn’t a new post) but did anyone see his great fielding at the Mariners game yesterday? When it was replayed on sportscenter everyone in my house did a double take at how he let that ball drop.

I would have liked Adam Dunn myself...

Good god...

An OF with Soriano, Fukudome and Dunn might have been the worst in baseball history. Signing Adam Dunn is simply impossible when you have Soriano in left and Lee at first. The idea that we could have had Dunn needs to die.

That would have been a lot of running for Fukudome

If not for his age, Bobby Abreau was the pick before the 2009 season
