Brian Roberts - Funny Story

One of my good friends manages a bar/restaurant called Cool River Cafe in Irving, TX. He asked me to come work the door on Saturday nights. I enjoy this because it's a change from my office job during the week and I get to hang out at a bar and get paid to do it. Anyway, we usually have a fair amount of celebrities and athletes come in there because of our proximity to the airport and it being an upscale steak restaurant on one side and a bar with live music on the other. I've seen players come in there and get absolutely tanked! I worked last night because of the Byron Nelson being a big draw. Around midnight several guys walked in and one of them, a shorter white guy, had his Monster Engery drink hat on backwards. I made him turn it around as this is a no-no at our club. He complied without an issue. It turns out that these guys were members of the Baltimore Orioles and the shorter white guy was Brian Roberts. Miguel Tejada was with them and I got to shake his hand. I'm 6'2 and felt like a giant around those two. I guess I still have little boy syndrome and expect the players to be these giants. When they left, I told Brian that I wouldn't have given him a hard time about his hat if he had been traded to the Cubs. They all laughed. Good times!
