OT: Dorothy Kamenshek dies at 84; women's baseball league star
Former New York Yankee first baseman Wally Pipp called Dorothy "Dottie" Kamenshek "the fanciest-fielding first baseman I've ever seen, man or woman."
She was the best player in the Women's League during WWII and the main character in "A League of Their Own" was named after her.
May she rest in peace and not be forgotten.

Thanks for posting this.
I just read that article they mentioned from the Marquette Magazine about her not too long ago (my daughter goes to Marquette) and found it facinating. What an amazing woman.
Oh and for anyone interested in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League there is a nice exhibit at the Midway Village in Rockford, IL about the Rockford Peaches.

Thanks for the Marquette link.
What a lady. Wish I’d known more about her before she was gone. Sad how it takes death to remind you of things.

Was this Geena Davis's character in "A League of Their Own"?
Her name in the movie was Dottie Henson, and she was a catcher, so I’m not sure if it’s based on the same player.

Guess I should have read the article first.
It answered my question. RIP, Dorothy. God Bless.
