OT: Rangers Upset about Series Loss to Cubs, Declare Bankruptcy
Well, maybe not directly, but they filed today. Looks like this is just a step in selling the team to Nolan Ryan and his group - very similar to what TribCo did with the Cubs.

Me too
I giggled heartily. Nice work :)

This may not be so simple
There is major bad blood between the creditors and the MLB. The creditors have claimed MLB is pushing Hicks to accept less money. It will be interesting to see what the bankruptcy judge decides. This may not be at all like the Cubs situation.

p/o the process
Cubs just did the same thing as p/o the sale to Ricketts.
It is so simple.
Just win the next game...!
Not when the creditors object as they may well in this case
This has been a very hostile negoation. The Cubs thing was largely pro-forma , it remains to be seen if this is. it is a very complicated situation see link below.

It's to keep the new owners from being affected
by any credit issues of the previous ownership. Just like with the Cubs’ sale its needed here too. While the negotiations have been nowhere near as clean as the Cubs deal, the new ownership group of the Rangers needs this to start with a clean slate.
Just win the next game...!
No this one is more complicated than that
Which is why it has been hung up for months fighting with the main creditor. It is true that the consenus is that this will probably go through, however should the creditor decide to fight ( and they have been aggressive) they can slow the process down. The move was made now to allow the Rangers to be able to compete by the trade deadline and it is not clear if that is going to happen.

You know somewhere W is giggling uncontrollably and pleased with himself.
Then looks around in a puddle of his own spit and wonders what he just read.

And now, let's dispense with the political commentary.

That's not political commentary...I don't think I need to link how he swindled the team.
Has nothing to do with his being a republican…just a shady owner/buyer/seller.

A myth.
Tom Grieve was the Rangers GM at the time they traded Sosa to the White Sox. Bush had nothing to do with it. It would be like saying Jerry Reinsdorf made that deal from the other end.
