Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

I'm not sure what the writer is getting at here. On one hand he makes it sound like the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform won't pursue because his name wasn't on the '03 list. On the other he goes on to say the statute of limitations has run out. I tend to believe it's the latter.

The case against Sosa

has always been a lot weaker than Tejada, Palmeiro or Clemens. Besides, if you look at Sosa’s statement: “I have never taken illegal performance-enhancing drugs,” that’s going to be almost impossible to prove in a court of law. Even if you could pin the rumored failed drug test on him, you’d have to prove that he didn’t take the PED legally in the Dominican Republic.

I don’t know about the statute of limitations, but they wouldn’t have prosecuted before that because they likely couldn’t have gotten a conviction.

I don't want to turn this political...

…but I’m glad Sosa won’t be prosecuted. He (along with the rest of the players) should have never been there in the first place. The government has bigger fish to fry than some silly game.

If the MLBPA wasn't trying to prevent drug testing, this never would have happened

While the first round in front of Congress was a joke, as names of big stars slowly leaked from different sources or failed drug tests, we had a good sense of how rampant the problem was. We can’t put blinders over our eyes and pretend it never happened. Knowing that big stars like Clemens and Palmeiro used is good for the game. No matter how big you are (no pun intended), you’ll join the list of disgraced individuals forever.

And that list will be completely irrelevant in 10 years

Let’s face it: The reason those names are important to us is because we watched those guys perform. A 10-year-old kid playing Little League today wouldn’t be able to tell Sammy Sosa from Roger Clemens – you’d be lucky if he could name which position they played. In 10 years, that same kid could be playing professional ball. The thing he will have learned from the whole ordeal is to not use anything for which they’re testing. Fast-forward another 10 years in the kid’s career and he’ll be rolling his eyes at the news that Clemens was finally inducted in the Hall. When he watches SportsCenter and sees the horrified reactions scrolling across the side of the screen, he’ll turn to his buddy and ask what the big deal is.

Ripping off ctcoff99:

"The baseball players come and go, but the game goes on forever. The players, the writers, the broadcasters, no matter how great, all are temporary actors on the stage. It’s the game, it’s baseball, that goes on and on, always reaching new heights, generation after generation."

plus Babe Ruth took testerone

so should we call for Babe to be removed from the HOF and his numbers be tarnished? My point? You cannot go after one generation and forget that other generations cheated as well. Its a sad part of baseball, but so common it is basically accepted
