LOOOOOUUUUU!!!!
yelled to Karstens to ‘jog it in, you’ve got time cause they’re throwing to 3rd’
Ok, so he was out.
Good, thought there was some miscommunication going on.

we had 2 guys on base and Starlin got the 3rd out

Hey everyone.
Apologies for missing the first pitch thread today — got tied up with other stuff and forgot.
Nice game so far. Great play by Soriano.
Carry on!

Oh come on
I’m having more fun watching this old Ozzy Osbourne concert. I’d be playing Red Dead Redemption right now, but someone else is playing it.

like I said earlier
He was supposed to be healthy in June. Too bad we had to let him play in April & May.

Or just neglected to remember
Trying to put a more positive spin on things.
RIP Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 - May 16, 2010).
i think we are seeing that there ain't much Lou can do
He can replace the entire lineup, but if they all continue to suck eggs with RISP it hardly matters. The offense looks lifeless tonight, Soriano’s cuts have been terrible
If you think Soriano's cuts are terrible, look at this old Ozzy Osbourne outfit

RIP Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 - May 16, 2010).
it looks like a Vanna White outfit

There's a reason I find footage from that era of his career funny
If you really want to laugh, watch the Kiss video for “Uh! All Night” to see those outfits. How this stuff was ever the rage, I’ll never know.

Question about knocking in guys from 3rd with less than two outs:
In this situation, wouldn’t the batter have a greater chance of success with a lighter bat or, heaven forbid, choking up on the handle. If you just need a fly ball or a blooper over the infield I would think a lighter bat would be the ticket. Would an MLB manager ever dare to ask for this from one of his players? Is it strictly a matter of selfish pride that prevents players from taking this approach, or has there been some discovery over the course of history that has made modern-era players use the same home run cut in every situation?
I agree
the only thing is that this may throw off the hitters timing which might have a negative impact.

Players do that all the time in Cricket
In cricket players use bats with long handles, lighter bats etc but I don’t think players do that in baseball because it can mess up their timing
maybe
baseball players need to incorporate the cricket bat – should be able to make contact with every swing

true..each game has its own quirks though :-)
In baseball players don’t have to deal with bouncing balls whereas in cricket players can hit a ball pretty much anywhere 360 degrees.
well ya
cricket is interesting just soooo confusing

it's really not confusing at all..in fact it is less confusing than baseball..
You don’t have double plays, there are no different ways you can get a base runner (tag vs step on the base) etc etc.
If all it takes is one attempt at playing small-ball to send a hitter into a slump...
maybe he is just not a very good hitter. IOW I don’t buy it, but I’m sure the players union would agree.

dont think a slump
was implied…but it might affect it for that at-bat

Hello everyone
Now that it’s the summer, I’ve found that I have Comcast down near Indy, so I can actually watch a Cubs game that isn’t on WGN!

Why does Fukudome always do a 360 basically when he strikes out?

I feel like I'm just waiting for something bad to happen.
That kind of year.

Nady is the only one who wants to play tomorrow I guess
Colvin looks meh.

Fuld and Tracy...call them up!
What could be worse? Only one run lead against the Pirates?

if he's not in the lineup tomorrow I'll.......I'll........well I won't believe it!
"Well-behaved women seldom make History"---Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
Colvin looks really bad against breaking balls
I don’t think he is ready for Major League sliders and breaking balls….
like somebody said he hasnt played since mid May....I think he just needs more playing time
Lou gives Lee and Ramirez all the time in the world to start hiting but hardly none to Colvin IMO
"Well-behaved women seldom make History"---Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
lack of playing time maybe the reason
I just don’t know if Colvin takes bad swings against breaking pitches because he is over anxious or because he is simply guessing
he also has mostly seen righties
not many chances to improve vs. lefties this year

I wouldn't either but I will be pissed if Nady isn't starting. He is playing great tonight
and I want Lou to be riding the hot streaks.
