It was more a comment on the obsession
Than any concrete idea that Lee could actually do that.

I would really like someone ...
to write something about why Z isn’t nearly as effective as he used to be.
Sinker not sinking as much as the last couple of years
Lost a couple of MPH on his fastball.
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
maybe he needs to be out of control
"Well-behaved women seldom make History"---Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
by cooliogirl47 on Jun 25, 2010 3:21 PM CDT up reply actions
Again with the split stats
Z has never been good to start a season. This year, he had his typical rough start, then got moved to the pen, then got moved back to the rotation. In essence, we’ve made Z do exactly what he’s bad at for a longer period of time. It was the exact wrong strategy.
And to echo Clutch, a sinker that doesn’t sink will kill a sinkerballer. What makes a sinker not sink? Overthrowing it. When you start to lose a few MPH on your fastball, you tend to overthrow. That behavior carries over to your other pitches, which, for a sinkerballer, means your best pitch is no longer effective. With the rest of your pitches, it means less control.
In short, the harder Z tries, the less he succeeds. It’s the quicksand of time, a vicious circle – like the ghetto. (Thanks, Elvis.)

Ron Santo - .277 BA; 342 HR; 1331 RBI = NO Hall of Fame?
Brooks Robinson - .267 BA; 268 HR; 1357 RBI = Hall of Fame.
Enough said ! Any more questions ?
Zambrano has lost 4mph on his fastball, they can't figure it out.
Meanwhile Ramirez has a hand-thumb issue that requires him to find a new grip and re-learn part of his game. Somehow, it doesn’t occur to management that these two aren’t the same players they were when they signed huge contracts and therefore they must be viewed as #1 options regardless of performance.
I mean if a AAA pitcher shows up one year missing 4 mph off his fastball, he goes down without question.

My personal secretary, SWL, called to inform menof today's incident.
I for one excited for this team to be blown up.
And we flew to Chicago from KC for the Taste of Chicago (or a wedding).

the only veteran anybody would want is Marlon Byrd
unfortunately, there is limited market for overpaid dogs like Z, Sori, ARam,andDome. Demp and Silva are performing, yet still overpaid. Free agents to be Lilly, Nady and Lee bring limited return (and only if Cubs pay the salary). I’m not saying trade Byrd, just suggesting he is the only veteran any team would want.
