Schlitter's had a solid season

Good, hard thrower who has improved his control and kept the ball in the park. He’s done enough to deserve a look.

Is this a Zambrano move?

We go extra innings Thursday, then Z forces more bullpen usage yesterday. Are we going to see a shuttle bus running fresh arms from Des Moines until the Z situation comes to some kind of a resolution? 12 saves, but the ERA is over 4.00 and he’s given up 35 hits in 33 innings for SChlitter. Safe to say this move isn’t made if Z doesn’t go bonkers yesterday?

Pretty much

The ’pen is utterly depleted right now. And with Silva out there, we may need Schlitter for more than one inning tonight.

on Schlitter

he’s having a solid season. The K/9, BB/9, HR/9 are all rather solid. He’s not a great arm, but I do believe this is a deserving audition. He’s been more consistent than Gaub/Parker in AAA.

I say throw Cashner in the rotation now, leave Gorz in the pen.

If this kid can pitch like we’ve seen, let him get his career as a starter going now.

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

by mrcubsfan on Jun 26, 2010 4:15 PM CDT reply actions

I would rather see someone like Casey Coleman be called up

Have him be the #5 starter.

No time to mess with the bullpen which has been good. Keep Gorz in there for time being until Zambrano issue is sorted out.

Oh nevermind then

I haven’t followed AAA as much lately.

Regardless now I read Z would go back to the pen if he returns. Gorz back to the rotation. I don’t know much about pitching but this has to really be hurting Gorzelanny and Zambrano with these transitions.

Here in NY we hear all the time about how the Yankees have messed up Joba by constantly changing his pitching role. Granted Gorzelanny and now Zambrano aren’t considered the future of the organization, I think these moves will be criticized in the long run.

Keep Cashner in the pen

He’s been successful there. No need to start fiddling with a kid now. Build on the success. If he’s a starter in the future allow him the winter and Spring Training to get ready to start.

This season is in the toilet anyway

So why not go with the Schlitter?

Um...

It was a comedic device and done on purpose. The rhyme was implied.
