Mark Prior to Workout Wednesday
Mark Prior is going to workout at USC Wednesday. No USC is not trying to offer him boosters to attend there ;) Pro scouts will be attendance. He was always one of my favorites to watch. Sad what happened to him. Just our luck. I wish him the best. Hope to see him again sometime. Maybe if he pitched AGAINST the Cubs he would put up his old numbers. I expect this to be an overwhelming 'NO' but i'll be rooting for him.

Good luck
Mark. I hope he makes it back. Sure he has some issues, however if wouldn’t have had a laundry list of injuries, I am sure the personality conflcts would have been limited.
I voted 'no', but not because I'm rooting against him
I just think he’s probably done pitching in MLB.

Same here.
Sad he went out like he did.

Exactly how I feel. Don't think he will but I do hope he does get back.

Absolutely.
Always liked him. Seems like a nice enough guy. Also read an article somewhere about how he thinks his “injury-free” motion fooled a lot of people (including himself) into thinking it was smooth simply because it was symmetrical. Interesting insight.
Good luck to him. (I just don’t see it happening.)

just
shows you there will be a market for zambrano when teams are still willing to look at prior. everybody needs pitching.
Minor league deal versus $35 million
A big difference. Of course, there will be a market for Zambrano. The size of that market is in direct proportion to the amount of money the Cubs will be sending along with him.
Yeah that's sure true.
Z will be pitching again next year for someone. He’s surely physically capable as Ted said lol

I skipped studying for finals my senior year of high school to see his Cubs debut
and I remember just being blown away by him. It’s a shame things went downhill for him after 03

I'll speak to this since I was there with him
Good enough since we were allowed to go. Oh and the only person that would have said no was somewhere else that evening. That helped a little too.

LOL. That helps.

This may date my Cub fan-dom, but
Mark Prior/Kerry Wood double-header was my first visit to Wrigley.
Amazing!

Dusty is running the USC workout.
Mark will throw 162 fastballs to start off. Then he will throw “a bucket or so” of breaking stuff. Dusty hasn’t disclosed the size of the bucket yet. Then it’s back to fastballs.
The workout will continue until Dusty determines that Mark is “laboring”.

Upon the point of "laboring," Dusty will demand Mark throw harder.

Saw His First Pro Game At Pringles Park
I saw him pitch his pro game at Pringles Park in 2002 for the Diamond Jaxx, back when they were still affiliated with the Cubs. I thought he was going to be a 250+ game winner in the big leagues once upon a time. Good luck to Mark in his comeback, when he’s not pitching against the Cubs.

Always will root for him
I always root for ex Cubs except when they play us. (Heck even when we faced Maddux I rooted for him not to lose the game but us to win by beating the bullpen – my ideal game would be him shutting us out for 9 innings and it being 0-0 and us winning in the 10th off a reliever).
This story is so sad.
On a side note a friend’s son is an upandcoming big name prospect. For privacy I’d rather not say who it is but if you follow the minors outside the Cubs you’d probably recognize the name but Mark Prior has been used as a cautionary tale. (he’s a name baseball fans in general don’t necessarily recognize but if you follow the minors overall you would esp. if you are a fan of his orgaization).

Best of luck to him
Prior will always be one of my favorite Cubs and I hope he can get a minor league deal and maybe pitch a year or two for a big-league team. If Corey Patterson can get back into baseball, so can Prior.
I think he'll pitch again in the majors
if he readjusts his ego. I think there is a portion of Cubs fans out there that got sick of his ego before we got sick of his failure of an arm. Wood had the same problems and he’s still loved. I soured on Prior after the Cubs Convention one year when he defended his want of a hefty raise via arbitration despite not pitching much in the previous season or so. For some reason I’m thinking he want 2005 dollars for 2003 success.

I'll join what appears to be the majority.....
in that while I really don’t see him toeing a major league rubber again I would be happy to see him actually do it. I think it’s a basic instinct of Cubs fans to root for former Cub players (with a few exceptions). Seems like giving Cub fans a few highs and/or just playing hard endears them to Cubs fans forever.
2003 = Funnest season ever.
Until it wasn’t.
