Hey guys, so, I might just go to the Road to Wrigley minor league game on the 7th. Is anyone else going? If so, where are you all sitting at?

If a similar post has been made, please send me a link to it and delete this, Al. Oh, and Josh, would you mind plugging in some player names? I read the minor league recaps but still aren't completely familiar with the Chiefs, hehe.

If you say Own shouldn't it be "Who own da Chiefs?"

Nothing's been posted about this so far.

I did go to the last two Road to Wrigley games but I might skip this one. Haven’t decided yet. If I go, I’d likely wind up in my usual bleacher seat.

The Bleacher seats are as cheap as ever

Probably expected of a minor league game, but it’s a deal I’ve been waiting for (save for this homestand’s ‘santo’ discount). I think I’m getting seats in the bleachers.

I was looking at that day’s forecast and it looks like it might rain…in that case, how do rainouts or rain delays work? Refunds in case the game is canceled? Sorry, I haven’t attended enough games or read about rainouts.

I have no idea.

Since it’s a one-shot deal, I would expect in the case of a rainout, you’d get a refund.

In the first Road to Wrigley game, it started raining — hard — with one out in the top of the ninth. They had to call it off, and suspended the game. Finished it the next day in Peoria. No, I did not go to the completion.

Hak-Ju Lee is the big name

Matt Cerda is someone else to keep an eye on.

I’ll do some more on this as the game gets closer.

Thanks Josh

Yeah, I thought Hak-Ju would be in the Chiefs, I just couldn’t remember it.
Should be exciting to see the Cubs’ probable future starting shortstop. :D

Those must be for box seats....

… which in the past have been the most expensive tickets ($30).

These tickets are obviously not selling the way they did two years ago, when this game drew 32,000 to Wrigley.

Never mind.

I read the rest of the page. They’re offering 50% off all tickets.

I bought full price tickets two weeks ago!

What an abuse of my trust as a fan!

Yes, I agree

I’m a Road to Wrigley season ticket holder and this Groupon ticket discount has marred my perception of the Cubs and their Road to Wrigley ticket policies.

My guess is they're having trouble selling tickets,

its only a one-day deal. Either way, the tickets are still cheap.

I still feel betrayed

This ranks right up there eating New and Improved Tide soap. It just doesn’t taste improved to me.

Nice Analogy!

I understand your resentment, I wasn’t planning on buying until the day of.

Isn’t Groupon independent of the Cubs? Don’t they need to get X amount of people to buy these tickets for the coupon to be valid?

Groupon is definitely independent of the Cubs

But I don’t know how they work.

No resentment here. Just amused at the continuous discussions of ticket discounts and season ticket holders, crap ideas about sense of entitlement and market economics. All bull.

I am attending the game with my wife and kid. It can be a lot of fun for kids with the between inning minor league antics. And then the kids get to run the bases at the end of the game.

The first Road to Wrigley game in 2008 got rained out in the 9th inning and there was a huge line of parents and kids waiting to run the bases. The Cubs invited people back another day to run the bases.

The arguments against my position on the 80% ticket discount are irrelevant to this.

There aren’t any season tickets for this event. And, half price isn’t 80% off.

No, I find the other side humorous

The Road to Wrigley just appeared to be the most sarcastic game I could point at.

I’m with you. I think it’s OK for people with tickets (single or season) be pissed about discounted tickets by the Cubs.

Of course, I’ve never seen a promotion like this before. But there is always someone with vast knowledge of tickets who wants to tell me what I should have known, how I should feel or shouldn’t feel, and that if you don’t like it, that you have a sense of entitlement.

It’s all group-think crap to me.

Thanks for the link

I’m not gunna try and understand why tickets are cheap. I’ll just buy them gladly and enjoy my experience. I might try the bleachers.

I'll be in the bleachers this year,

maybe the upper deck if I’m feeling cheap. The game was fun last year, but I’m looking forward to seeing some of the Cubs younger prospects instead of Hoffpauir, Taguchi, and crew from Iowa last season.

Everything except beer is cheaper at these games if I’m not mistaken. It should be a good time.

Thinking about bringing some folks.

Those who attended in the past, are concession (beer) prices lowered for the event as well?

Discounted Beer in the Bleachers

OK – now this looks fun in the bleachers. I think they did this the previous years too.

Discounted ballpark fare: Discounted ballpark favorites will be available throughout the game. $2 hotdogs will be sold at all concession stands in the ballpark and $3.50 beer will be offered in the bleacher stands.

That's about half regular price.

Smart idea.
